In the WotI codex they have the "mystic special abilities" power choice as being worth 3 slots. It seems strange to me because "dragon form" (worth only 2 slots) for instance seems like it is considerably more powerful than the former. Is there any reason that "mystic special abilities" is worth 3 slots when other more powerful abilities such as "dragon form" (and arguably "thief special abilities") are worth only 2?

Am I underestimating this ability or am I right in saying it should be worth no more than 2 slots?

OK. I want a show of hands for everyone out there who
has played WarCraft III?

Uh, huh. That's what I thought...

I think there's some synergy from WC3, especially in
regards to multi-racial armies, technology, and
distinct monsters, like the Satyr Trickster or Satyr
Soul-Stealer, etc. Recently the Warcraft III RPG (d20
rules) came out, and it looks very interesting, and
exciting. I might use some of those ideas (like the
d20 technology rules) and some prestige classes for my
campaign…

PS - Anyone want to form a Warcraft III clan called
MYSTARA? :-)

I'm fairly sure that Mystic Special Abilities got valued at 3 points because
of the Gentle Touch ability. The "I hit you, if your HD are lower than mine
you die, no save allowed" effect. (It's *fortunately* usable only once per
day.) A rules mod to allow Immortals (only) to save versus Physical Attacks
for half damage would probably lower this ability's value to 2.

(And on a side note, I'd say that Thief Special Abilities is just fine at 1
slot. So many thief abilities are rendered superfluous by Immortal abilities
to cast spells at will - why listen at a door when you can cast _ESP_? Why
pick a lock or disarm a trap when you can _Teleport_ right past it? - that
making it any more expensive at all would likely cause me to say "Why
bother?")

I remember there was mention of unreleased works at
one point. It would be nice to get these. This is
the first most sought after unplubished stuff I want
to get (the second being Star Frontiers: Zebulans
Guide II and internal NeXT cube specifications).
