Low level mages are commonplace as is low level magic. I use the 'colour of magic' idea that's detailed somewhere on starflung and find it very good for upping the mystery a bit. That said, high level magic is very hard to come accross. Top level spells and high power items are severely limited. Only Glantri and Alphatia really count as magic using nations and they're seen as a bit wierd. As for anti ageing/death stuff: only Alphatia has that. But not only is it funny, it is very good too. :-) __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! I find your system very interesting, and I wonder whether it could be extended to other actions, mainly defence and magic, since as is, it would be much more effective for fighter-types then for the other classes. I think defensive and magic stunts could be easily introduced, basing them on Dex+Con and Int+Wis respectively, and having them affect respectively AC and hit points (for the current round only) and saving throws and damages (or range, or other effects). I haven't checked the idea for balance or anything like that, though. What about bard? Any NPC based on Indiana Jones should definitely have the equivalent of the bardic knowledge class ability, with some limited bardic music ability to get him out of tough situations. ------------------------------ End of MYSTARA-L Digest - 31 Mar 2003 to 1 Apr 2003 (#2003-91) **************************************************************
