New ambassadors will fear being =20 appointed and the darokin ambassadors are acustomed to dealing with =20 trade agreements, not with alliance forging. Therefore General Winter =20 with the help of Laran is on the lookout for trustworthy and capable =20 adventurers who have earned their merits within Darokin and the PCs =20 are the ones appearing." That was pretty much my solution also. It would have been ridiculous =20 to send the PC group to cities with already experienced Darokinian =20 agents. I also made the Nomad Agent attacks against the PCs a constant =20 figure of the campaign, boosting up their power a bit. --> There =20 really are few people who could survive the mission. The Glantrians were involved in the beginning precisely as you =20 proposed, on the lookout for good adventurers. I introduced the =20 "prophesies" later on, and they bacame more like divinations =20 considering the Dagges pieces that the PCs had found. But I did put the PCs in harm's way in Akesoli during the initial =20 invasion. There were some campaign-specific "divine interventions" =20 behind this though. But they were built so strongly into the overall =20 campaign concept that they worked okay. ******************************************************************** The Other Worlds Homepage: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/OtherWorlds.asp The Mystara Homepage: http://www.pandius.com To unsubscribe, send email to LISTSERV@ORACLE.WIZARDS.COM with UNSUB MYSTARA-L in the body of the message. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 12 Sep 2006 17:06:54 -0400 From: Sheldon Morris Subject: Re: Sorcerers in Mystara I view sorcerers as more primal in nature and possible for creatures with strong connections with magic. So IMC sorcerer is a favoured class for elves (along with ranger). The fey creatures would use sorcerer instead of any wizard levels. I also envision the original (pure) Alphatians as being mainly sorcerers although that has shifted greatly since their arrival on Mystara. DotE makes the statement that an individual needs to have 'the gift' to be capable of using magic (i.e. be a magic-user) and I think the same is true of being a sorcerer. It would also be good to use as a witch-doctor/shaman type class, as others have also suggested. --------------------------------- All new Yahoo!
