Yes, I am =) I really like your 3.5 adaption of lupins, Gnolls, and Kobolds. Thanks! =) GP gave a lot of help and inputs here as well, so he should have half of the credit as well (even not liking 3e) ;) I'm curious though, what is your sources (or inspiration) for the names on > the gnoll and kobold subraces? Gaz10! =) In fact, it only bring the "taxionomic name" and description of those subraces, but it's basically what Orcs of Thar described, especially for the Kobolds (Black, Brown and Grey kobolds are, indeed, Black, Brown and Grey ;) ). For the gnolls, I used the hyenas subspecies added with GAZ10 and CoM descriptions, plus Savage Baronies picture of a (striped) gnoll from El Grande Carrascal. I just tried to conciliate all sources into a more coherent description of the gnolls ;) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyena And also, why are the "Grey" Kobolds so penalized? Because Gaz 10 said so, hehe ;) Grey kobolds is a good race for 1st level characters have some fun with, but, surely, not intended as a PC race =) > I had meant to imply that the Minrothadi's (or the minrothad region) had a > Crown before the founding of the modern guilds/modern nation. I see. So, it's better to have the Crown coins before of 488 Ac as well ;) I do not know enough about Minrothad's history to properly word such a > statement however. What was the political history of the Minrothad islands > region before the founding of the guilds? AFAIK, it's pretty simple, with independent city-states of minrothians (Harbourtown; descendents of the nithian colonists), alphatians (New Alphatia; GAZ9 says that they have red rair, they may be related to the flaems) and the elves, both Meditor (water) and Verdier (wood); havilings were nothing but slaves in Harbourtown by that time. IIRC, there's nothing saying if there was any council for those city-states discuss about their common interests, but I guess they worked basically as a association of cities with common interests and motivations (I guess something like RW Hanseatic League). But that doesn't mean that they were too close or agreed about everying, since minrothians were pro-thyatians, while the alphatians were... well, alphatians ;) I guess this means that before the unification in 488 AC (and the following years of wars between Thyatis and Alphatia c. 500 AC), the minrothian city-states were much more interested in external affairs than the modern minrothaddans (especially before 900 AC). And probably much more directly involved in foreign political issues, like those at the smaller traladaran city-states... =) > most likely yes. Was the region otherwise uninhabited prior to the > arrival of the Traldar's? Sure, but my point is that those traladarans actually arrived in c. 450 AC (SCCB describes that as "560 years ago" from 1010 AC). I'm using 445 AC for the foundation of Kladanovic, as I'm assuming that the balance of power of the traladaran city-states shifted in 444 AC as a direct result of the Silver Purge (443-445 AC), and the heretics followers of the Church of Halav were forced by the followers of the Church of Traladara to leave Halag and Svoga. And, although the minrothians would rather keep them at the land and maintain the profitable status quo, they also always needed colonists to build a viable route to the Western Sea, using the "necklace" route instead of sailing all the way around the Serpent Peninsula, and so they shipped those religious refugges that desperate look for a new "promised land" for their "golden age of Halav" come back once again and all that stuff ;) > And what about if modern Slagovich uses both currencies, the tradicional > traladaran one and the VotPA one (pehaps the LBs are so common and > influent > at there that their particular currency co-exist with the native system?)? > =) > > That sounds reasonable to me. =) ******************************************************************** The Other Worlds Homepage: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/OtherWorlds.asp The Mystara Homepage: http://www.pandius.com To unsubscribe, send email to LISTSERV@ORACLE.WIZARDS.COM with UNSUB MYSTARA-L in the body of the message. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 27 Feb 2008 11:22:27 +0000 From: CAB Davidson Subject: Re: Encounter with a Druj One of the things that makes spirits so damaging is that they'll putrefy things around them. I always play this aspect up, whether its a village full of starving peasants or all of the potions the party owns going off at the same time, its an important part of what these potent undead do. Potions are disposable, useable, one shot items. If the players don't use them, they lose them :) Ville V Lahde wrote: Last night the PCs in our group run into a Druj (Spirit) for the first time. However players of mine are very open-minded and easy going so when sometimes destructions happened they didn't feel angry with me. Just once I made it on purpose in order to take away a magical ring which had proved to be too much powerful and unbalancing. The wizard owner of the ring was forced to "sacrify" it to save himself and all of his companions: they were caught in a room of a dungeon with no ways out and the ceiling was slowly going down them. The room was magic protected so no spells worked. There was an altar with an inscription "put a magical ring on it to exit". His was the only ring of the party. I know I didn't play fairly but the player realized it was necessary. Cheers, Marco Fossati --------------------------------- --------------------------------- L'email della prossima generazione? Also according to the Alfheim Gaz at night a revenant(undead spirit along with druj and odic) stalks Dragontree accompanied by spectres. So at level 8 they got curious about it and joined the Darokin legion in its camp and started asking questions. They eventually spoke to a cleric attached to the legion who had some knowledge of others who had tried to venture into Dragontree at night. When the subject of holy water came up, the cleric warned them survivors of previous encounters reported all of their holy water and even potions being fouled in the presence of undead at Dragontree. So the players were able to find out this is possible with good proactive roleplaying, and now know there is such an ugly possibility. Of course, they think I just came up with that myself because they like to use holy water against undead. Fortunately the group decided that Dragontree might be best saved for investigation at a later time. Although they have used it as an entry point to enter Alfheim during the day. I'd very much like to know as much as possible about 3 subjects: 1) Magic and radiance How radiance affects magic, how the Glantrians use radiance on spellcasting, how Etienne achieved Immortality etc. Atila and I are trying to create something new around this... green crystals that remained after 1.010 and all... heroes that use their powers etc. I'm also personally VERY interested in Wild Magic. I thought on trying to link Radiance - and the green crystals - to it. What do u guys think? 2) Broken Lands What has been happening there for the last decades? 3) School of Magecraft I love the School of Magecraft concept (I even bought a general 2nd ed material about that... "School of Wizardry" was the name?), but I have so far found so little material about the Karameikan one... I'd like to learn about OTHER Schools as well. Guess they have lots of them in Glantri and Alphatia? ---------------------- If you please could help me directly (here) or even point me books, magazines, web links etc I'd be very grateful. If u have thoughts, house rules, cutomisations etc, please shoot! I'm not a canon maniac! MANY THANKS!
