Lots of interesting characters in Golgren the intelligent Ogre Lord, Hotak the Usurper, his wife Nephara leader of the Forerunners, their ambitious and less qualified son Ardnor, the favored and gifted son Bastion, Rebel General Rahm Es-Hestos, tattooed slave minotaur Ulthar, etc, etc.
I really liked Faros Es-Kalin and how he developed from the nephew of the overthrown Emperor whom was never regarded as anything special, who wasted his life on gambling and fun, then slowly turns into a fierce and unstoppable warrior out for vengence.
The end was very interesting but was WAY to short IMO. I wish they would have gone into more depth about his (Faros's) choice to accept the mantle of Emperor as well as the marriage to a member to the family that was his mortal enemy. The end was so suddenly cut off-wish there was more.

Anyone else read this trilogy and what did you think?
