I noticed this, while reading through the archive of comics.

And again in this comic, some pages later.

Third Reference

Does this comic author visit the Mystara boards here, and I am just late to the game?

He's using sprites and screen captures from the Capcom arcade game "Shadow Over Mystara."

That's why so many Mystara references.

Ahh, never heard of it, time for a Google search.

I love this comic!

Thanks for positing it. Not only is it based on the Mystara-based game, but it looks like the entire comic is set in Mystara! Now we have a comic of our own, and a funny one too!

Does anyone know if the creator is a fan of Mystara and not just of the computer game?

I meant to comment last time I was hear about this. I tagged it into my favs list. I still haven't gone back to read it more, but what I saw was very funny. I wish they would make a hack-n-slash game based in Mystara again someday. Maybe if my company makes enough, I might branch into VG's as well and see about making a Mystara one, where you can take your character to Immortality or just take over the world. Or you could just adventure around. :D

Maybe one of those Massive Online ones.

Not sure if anyone remembers the old computer game GODS? It started out with the hero, Hercules I think, though AFAIK we never actually got his name. In any case the Hero challenged the gods and asked that if he passed their tests they would let him join their ranks.

A similar story driven computer game could have been based on Mystara with the hero eventually achieving Immortality. That would have been neat.

Or one like the Baldur's Gate ones just set in mystara. Walking around in the Known world would have been awesome!

There are a bunch of fan-made Neverwinter Nights modules set in Mystara.

Yeah there is, but I couldn't get into that game too much. To much basis on the rules. A little slow for me too. I like the hack-n-slash of Diablo 2 or Dark Alliance.

One of these days, I'll get enough money to develop a game based in Mystara that will start from level 1 and get a shot at Immortality. Once that day arrives, I'll be looking for some Mystara guru's to help design the setting. Of course I'll have to find a way to convince WotC to lease the rights to me first.

I think I would prefer to have it a Massive Multiplayer Online Game too. That way all adventurers are human players and the towns are filled with NPC's. Could be interesting when the Wrath of the Immortals bgins to go into affect. Adventurer vs. Adventurer!
