Kamelion

It's been a while since I posted - long enough that some of you folks may have no idea who this Kamelion bozo even is, heh heh...

I've been a member of athas.org for about three years, first as a lowly templar, then as an assistant to the Overcouncil and finally as a mighty and tyrannical senator. I've been proud to contribute in ways large and small to pretty much every product that athas.org has released in that time. Shortly, however, my girlfriend is due to give birth to our third child. As I work at home as a full-time dad, I'm not going to have the time to devote myself to DS design work for much longer. So, with this in mind, I tendered my resignation from athas.org a day or so ago.

I'm posting this by way of saying a huge thankyou to anyone who ever gave feedback, opinion or input into any of the products that I worked on. Without exception, the involvement of the community makes athas.org's work far easier and far more rewarding than would otherwise be the case. You guys are the living, breathing heart of what we do and make every rules-question, stat-block and double-checked skill point more than worth the effort. So thanks for giving this list monkey a great stint as designer and developer, and thanks for keeping the coolest D&D setting alive and kicking for so many years. You rock like Wheelock.

I have a couple of things to wrap up for athas.org, but then I'm done. It would be hard to post less than I have in recent months, but I'll be sure to stop by from time to time and say hi and join in the ever-enjoyable discussions on defiling magic, advanced beings and athasian paladins (oh look, we have all three going right now - plus ca change...) From templar to senator and back to fan. I can think of worse ways to have spent my time. See you all around. And stay away from the cacti!

You will be sorely missed, and I mean that in the first meaning of the word.

I've appreciated every bit of help, every chat session, every photo exchanged.
I hope I can call you a friend, albeit that would make me a friend that doesn't know much about you. That can be remedied.

You and your girlfriend are gona have another baby, but there's also the one me and you have been gestating for some time now. I hope we can deliver our baby into the world, approriately stillborn, as it should be, before you become swamped under diapers and the weight of renewed sleeplessness.... :P

Didn't get to work often with you, but everytime was a really interesting. You always showed consideration, even for us low-rung templars, and that is really appreciated.

My second child's coming next february:D , so I understand you more than a little bit. I hope all goes well for your wife and you, and your other children by the same occasion.

Take care. (and try to get some sleep... ;))

Anyone who has helped make Athas what it is today is an important part of the community. You will be missed. I think I speak for everyone when I say that I hope you take a new Class as you level up with the 3rd child: Lurk!

Pop in every once in a while. Let us know how you are.

I second that. Lurking is my standard advice/request to anyone who may be forced to leave the board due to a (insanely) busy schedule. Heavens know I've followed that advice myself.

Mark,

I am sad to see you go. The reason is definitely a joyful one, though. Congratulations and best wishes to your third child! You contributed a lot to this game (if I had to single one thing out, it would be the excellent Terrors of Athas), so I hope you enjoy it even more now that you are back at "fan" status. I hope we which are left at athas.org will keep up to the standard you expect and delivered.
It was a pleasure to work with you.

Best wishes for your future,

Jan aka Elonarc

Sad to see you go, Kammie, but one certainly understands. Life trumps all. Thanks for everything you've done, and hope to see you around sometime.

All kids do for the first year is sleep, eat and waste anyway, so you'll have plenty of time.

Good Luck Kam - sad to see you having to set out, but hey...kids and family are always first.

Raise some health sand-runners for the next generation of gamers!

I'm sorry to see you go Kam, but I fully understand your reasons. Life's been making my time to dedicate to Dark Sun much more limited.

:OMG!
athas.org without Kamelion? It's very hard for me to see you go. You've allways been very helpfull, especially when there were questions about ToA. But I truly understand that family is more important. My sister has three children on her own, and from time to time I have to baby-sit them. If I have to imagine that 24/7, I truly understand that there won't be much time for other activities.

Well, I'll hope that you'll soon be able give us some of your listing abilities. ;)

Well well well... The HUGIEST... did I said HUGIEST darksun web site links of all time wishes you the best! :D

Seem that I am in the a situation that sound similar to yours. I, of course, never had the implication and dedication you had with athas.org. Thanks for everything man.

You can't imagine how I understand your reasons. These are nobles one. A third child? Congratulation! I am much happy for you and jealous (should be dad for a second time, but for those who remember, my girlfriend lost 2 babies 3 years ago... but then again, for the third time, she has lost another 3 weeks ago, this is hard).

What I DO hope is you will sometime come by, as I do, to give your precious comments (not that mine are so precious but :D )

The DS community will have big shoes to fill as the old timers begin to have less and less time. Gab, Flip, Brax, Jon and everybody around them (as well as the old timers not officially in the organization) have or will eventually less time to dedicate to athas.org. Let's hope we will have new outstanding members that will give their heart to Darksun.

Thanks.

Thanks for all the kind words, folks . Warms the cockles of my little black heart.

Grummore, I'm really sorry to hear about your loss, mate. Please look after yourself and your wife. Can't imagine how tough it must be - my thoughts are with you.

I guess I read this wrong then. Sorry.

No it is I who apologizes to you and most importantly to Gru, as I misread the statement in a very strange fashion.

Sorry again. Losing unborn children is its own peculiar and potent drain on morale, so hang in there Gru and you'll get to the long-awaited number two!
