Could more Mystara stuff be on the way? That, or more likely we'll have an article on the legendary Lupins of of Greyhawk...... But enough with the sarcasm. Anything remotely Mystaran will definately make me go out and buy that issue. Getting official stats for Lupins, new artwork and maybe even a PrC or two for those guys would be cool. Plus, it will be a new challenge for us fans to replace the greyhawk stuff that is bound to be in there with real Mystaran connections. That, or more likely we'll have an article on the legendary Lupins of of Greyhawk...... Don't count on that! I wrote the lupin article. Enuf said. ;) But enough with the sarcasm. There is no Greyhawk. The main text of the article is world-free (but with a decidedly pro-Mystara sidebar), although those with sharp eyes and good memories will catch a few things taken straight out of the Mystara Monstrous Compendium Appendix. Don't expect Renardois lupins, but don't fear for Furyondian lupins either. :) Oh, and the artwork...OMG! As if that all wasn't enough, there's also a mention in #325 about X2: Castle Amber. Didn't I promise to Mystara-up the magazine as much as I could? :D -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : Lost Woodrake Date : 09-09-04 01:23 PM Didn't I promise to Mystara-up the magazine as much as I could? :D    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : havard Date : 09-10-04 03:49 AM Didn't I promise to Mystara-up the magazine as much as I could? :D Mike, this is starting to sound really good :) I am looking forward to getting my hands on this article, and the one in Dungeon aswell. These things provide focal points for the Mystara community that helps keeping the discussions alive. It looks like we're getting more Mystara these days than at the time when AD&D Mystara had just been closed down. I am really looking forward to the artwork parts too. Rules conversions we can (in theory) do ourselves, but professional artwork that is (almost) created with Mystara in mind is hard to come by. Great for visualizing our favorite world. Mystara lives! :) Håvard -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 6] Author : Goldrak Date : 09-21-04 09:29 AM This is really awsome, tortels and lupins already converted, now we expect the rakastas and phanatons. :) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 7] Author : Cthulhudrew Date : 09-21-04 05:41 PM This is really awsome, tortels and lupins already converted, now we expect the rakastas and phanatons. Yeah- not a big fan of that Tortle writeup, personally. Primarily due to the way they treated the Tortle's shell. It was listed as just providing a natural AC bonus, but it didn't seem as if the author gave any thought to the fact that, because it is a carapace, it would be very difficult (if not impossible) to actually wear any other sort of armor in conjunction with the shell. Therefore, a tortle would actually suffer at higher levels because it couldn't make use of armors found like other characters could. I'd have noted the disadvantages of the carapace (probably penalties to climb, jump, ride, etc. in addition) and raised the AC bonus for the carapace, as well as provided the option of withdrawing into the shell for a higher bonus. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 8] Author : havard Date : 09-22-04 09:06 AM Yeah- not a big fan of that Tortle writeup, personally. Any chance of sharing your version of the Tortles with us Cthul? :) By the way, does anyone know when Dragon #325 will be available in the stores? Looking forward to seeing what Mike has cooked up for us. Also, what was that about the reference to X2? Oh, and did anyone notice the reference to Mystara in the last missue of Dragon in the Ecology article? I expect to see our office copies Tuesday (September 28th), which means those lucky enough to live near our distributor should start seeing theirs by the end of the week (October 1st). Note that our distributor is located in the Midwest, I believe, and not Seattle (as many people commonly and understandably assume). Oh boy! I can't hardly wait to see what y'all think! :) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 11] Author : MKMcArtor Date : 09-26-04 01:59 PM This is really awsome, tortels and lupins already converted, now we expect the rakastas and phanatons. :) Third edition already has catfolk (see page 56 of the Miniatures Handbook), so we consider the rakasta "converted" for our purposes. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 12] Author : stanles Date : 09-26-04 04:10 PM I expect to see our office copies Tuesday (September 28th), which means those lucky enough to live near our distributor should start seeing theirs by the end of the week (October 1st). I await other peoples comments. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 13] Author : havard Date : 09-27-04 05:10 AM Oh boy! You are doing a pretty good job keeping Mystara remembered Mike, I think articles such as this one is very useful in providing the Mystara community with something to hold on to. By the way, I didn't see you commenting on the Beagle (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=311544) thread yet. :) Håvard -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 14] Author : katana_one Date : 09-28-04 12:46 PM Third edition already has catfolk (see page 56 of the Miniatures Handbook), so we consider the rakasta "converted" for our purposes. You're joking, right? The Catfolk from the Miniatures Handbook are a pale imitation of the Rakasta if you ask me. No natural weapons. No mention of any acute senses. Nothing except a stat boost and +1 ECL, really. I did a Rakasta conversion a while back for 3.0 (as well as Lupins and Tortles). I'm going to update/revise it someday for 3.5. It might not be balanced (might need an ECL adjustment), but it at least includes all the things that made the Rakasta so cool. http://www.angelfire.com/games4/mystara/rakastas.html (Sorry for the banner ads - nothing I can do about them at the moment.) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 15] Author : Goldrak Date : 10-17-04 01:18 PM The Catfolk from the Miniatures Handbook are a pale imitation of the Rakasta if you ask me. No natural weapons. No mention of any acute senses. Nothing except a stat boost and +1 ECL, really. I couldn't put it better. Rakastas are part of what makes mystara unique and different from other worlds, and suggesting that we should use the catfolk is...disapointing. Rakastas possess a unique set of abilities that the catfolk simply don't have. I made a conversion to 3.5 (see my sig) and i play them like that, but a "official" version of all non-core mystara races would be more then welcome, if not just to open our horizons. I sincerely hope that mystara fans out there with the means and will to produce and share this kind of information should do it, we the fans would appreciate. :) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 16] Author : MKMcArtor Date : 10-18-04 12:04 PM ... and suggesting that we should use the catfolk is...disapointing. Don't forget that I'm only a small (but talkative) cog in a very large machine. ;) Despite the disclaimer of my signature, whatever I post has to stay true to what I know and understand of the policies of both Paizo and Wizards of the Coast. I understand that it's not always going to be pleasant for you to hear the Party Line, as it were, but it's better in the long run that I just tell it as it is and not dance around the issue. :) Hmm...I think that precludes me from entering politics... :D -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 17] Author : MKMcArtor Date : 10-18-04 12:11 PM ...but a "official" version of all non-core mystara races would be more then welcome, if not just to open our horizons. Oh boy, that'd be neat! I'm working on getting as many updated as I can in the Winning Races column. Mystara probably has the most PC races of any campaign world, a fact not lost on Erik Mona (Dragon's new editor-in-chief). :) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 18] Author : Lost Woodrake Date : 10-18-04 02:00 PM ...
