I was wondering if there is pre-ethablished rules, like his spheres, weapon specialisation(think he can), abilities etc.. thinking about it, i remember i talked before with friends about it, but never saw concrete things in book.. thx for any info you have ps: its sad that they disabled the search fonction -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : Wyrmbane Date : 09-12-04 07:37 PM Thread Title : War priests You might look in the Forgotten Realms Adventures book. That has the major deities for the Realms, including Tempest (war god). Also, Powers & Pantheons and Faiths & Avatars detail the deities and thier priests. All three books have the specialty priests for each deity. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : Karn1 Date : 09-12-04 08:04 PM thx for your response, but in fact i was wrong ;) first time i open my priest handbook i just looked at index and didnt saw it in kits, so i was thinking it was not tehre, but i re-openned it and looked at priesthood and its there, all info, i was not thinking there where so much info about so much gods... anyway thx for your help -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : Wyrmbane Date : 09-12-04 10:38 PM Thread Title : War priests The one in the Complete Priest's Handbook is a generic War Priest. Each diety has specialty priests that get some very interesting abilities and powers. These are detailed in Forgotton Realms Adventures, Faiths & Avatars, and Powers & Pantheons books. They also have access to spells that aren't availible to the rest of the clergy. I highly recommend checking out the specialty priests before taking the generic one. Depending on how you play and the game you're in, they're lots more fun to play than any of the standard clergy, with the possible exception of some of the priest kits. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : shadowelf Date : 09-13-04 05:13 AM Thread Title : Who do you serve? You’ve got the cart before the horse. You should choose a named deity first. In a published setting, there should be a list of deities. Look for a warlike one that appeals. If there are specialist priest rules, you’re done. If there aren’t then discuss with the DM how to create a specialist priest. There may be websites with suggestions. In a homebrew, or if none of the “official” deities appeals, then you and the DM will have to create one (if not already done). Use the Complete Priest and any campaign sourcebooks as a guide. Then you serve a named deity with a personality. Much more fun. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 6] Author : Karn1 Date : 09-13-04 08:20 AM actually we dont have the forgotton realm book and Powers & Pantheons, but someone have faiths and avatars,i will look into it. Priest is one of the only class i never do before ( maybe with thief ) so im not so lot familiar with it. Still i chose first what kind of rp i want to do (war priest), i dont think i do thing in wrong way ;). After i will choose a god according to war (i know there still some rp there depending of the god). Actually looking to generic one, i maybe wrong but he look very specialized in the sens of he only got 2 major and minor sphere. got 1 weapon specialization ad other little abilities.. when you say specialized priest this priest will got more abilities or willl change sphere and abilities of the generic one? Cause i dont think my dm will allow me to got more abilities, its someone who look alot on our characters to not be over powerful. but if it's in faith in avatars he may allow it. Anyway i will look further in this book thx for all the info! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 7] Author : Simius Date : 09-13-04 01:39 PM The standard god of war for Forgotten Realms is Tempus, he and his specialty priests are to be found in faiths and avatars, so that should solve your problems. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 8] Author : Wyrmbane Date : 09-19-04 12:15 AM Thread Title : Battleguards Battleguards (specialty priests of Tempus) have many more abilities than a generic war priest. They also have a lot of limitations. I don't see why your DM wouldn't let you play one if he has the source book. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 9] Author : Nifftin Date : 09-20-04 11:18 PM I don't know if you have access to these but they might be intresting to take a gander at. Tome of Magic has some nifty war sphere spells (MOst of them use Battlesystem rules though...) Along with Spells and Magic book has some other spells with the war sphere (again, more Battlesystem...) Hope that helps, Niff -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 10] Author : dontheox Date : 10-06-04 02:14 PM Thread Title : Crusader Also I would look into playing the Crusader of a god. It basicly allows the priest to use the fighters table and can cast priest spells, but cannot turn undead. Just a suggestion I always like playing them my self I just carried a lot of holy water around for those nasty undead guys and a mace is a good idea too. You can find the info in faith and avatars, and the sphere of spells you can cast are simular to that of a war priest. If you dont faiths and avatars I can scan the page for you and send it if you like. Hope I helped. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 08:16 AM.
