I get the biggest kick at of it. I don`t really for the new stuff to much. When i started playing the DM`s i played with made their own adventures up...so i missed out on all the good modules out there. So now i try to get all the ones i can(can`t belive all the ones out there)Thinking about playing The Palace of the Silver Princess(any input?)Also love the sticky on oop stuff! Thanks You All!!! :D -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : Plunderer_of_the_planes Date : 10-15-04 11:09 PM I'm gonna get in trouble with this.... I hate to burst your bubble but this is not the nicest of places for older edition D&D. The administration believes we're the red-headed stepchildren and even hid the forum under a bunch of other stuff...we're not even in the main forum directory.... Now if you want a place that is a bit friendlier...you may want to look around but Dragonsfoot.org is good as well as a certian link in my sig.... And don't trust a thing anyone with official titles tells you.... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : WizO_Catoblepas Date : 10-16-04 02:12 AM I'll have to pull out my "Palace of the Silver Princess" and look it over again. If I remembered correctly, it wasn't an overly difficult adventure, but one I enjoyed all the same. I'm glad you've enjoyed some of the things that you have seen on this board. :) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : WizO_Catoblepas Date : 10-17-04 11:56 PM I've had a chance to review the module. The things that stood out were: - Have some sort of plan for how Travis will entered the room. It shouldn't seem like he just enters the room and says, "Hey, I'm here!" - I'd have the statues in room 25 always attack. - Play the thieves so that the party isn't overly suspicious of them. - The BBEG at the end of the module is a little steep. Throwing a werewolf at a potential 1st level party may be deadly. I think that you said that the party is going through some other adventures first, which is a good idea. - Make sure that the paladin at the end of the adventure wants his sword back. After all, the party is already going to get 3000 gp a piece from the princess... Just some random comments. :) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : RobertFisher Date : 10-18-04 02:18 PM Palace of the Silver Princess is an interesting module. There are two versions. The orange cover original is available in PDF from wizards.com. (Along with an article on why it was pulled.) The green cover that replaced it is available through RPGNow or SVGames. I got my off ebay. The orange version is very loose. Almost too loose. You get a lot of stuff with little explaination. Of course, this can be a good thing, as it can create a feeling of mystery & magic & can be a catalyst for your own imagination. It includes a wilderness map of the surrounding area, which is very nice. The green version, conversely, is almost too tight. It ties up & explains all the loose ends from the original. It starts with the PCs already at the gates on a mission to the palace. The first bit is a "programmed" adventure (almost choose-your-own-adventure style) designed to ease a newbie DM into the game. I don't think I'd run the orange without some significant modifications. I might run the green as-is, but probably not as part of a regular campaign. Making your own version drawing from both is probably the best course. Somebody on DF had an interesting idea for using both versions in the same campaign! For myself, my plan is to use them both as inspiration for a location in my campaign. I've also have a couple of other locations inspired by stuff on the orange's wilderness map. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 6] Author : 80`s Gamer Date : 10-19-04 05:38 PM ok thanx...what about the towns and outdoors i always like to get them started with something before they get to where they need to be...not sure where to put the tinker at...Misty Swamp sounds like fun.Any input?Playing saturday... :) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 7] Author : RobertFisher Date : 10-20-04 01:06 PM ok thanx...what about the towns and outdoors i always like to get them started with something before they get to where they need to be...not sure where to put the tinker at...Misty Swamp sounds like fun.Any input?Playing saturday... :) Almost all the towns & villages seem to provide opportunities for a little pre-adventure adventure. I'd probably have the tinker show up at whatever town the PCs start in. Then maybe establish a schedule for him so the PCs can find him again if they so choose. More likely, though, I'd just let him show up whenever & where-ever is convenient. The Misty Swamp is definately interesting & begging for a McGuffin to get the PCs there either before, after, or as a break to the main adventure. I think a great way to start a campaign would be to plop B1, the encounter areas from B2, & maybe even the hill from B5 onto the B3 map. Let the PCs hear rumors about all of them & decide which to investigate. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 08:16 AM.
