I know I'm a jerk, but this guy failed to pay his storage fee's so I bought all his books to pay his fee. Well some things were worth a mint, and there were so many box sets. One I liked in particular was the Red Steel Campaign. It was like wild west meets D&D. I totally ran with and tried to update it to 3.5, because I can never, ever leave well enough alone. Some of it is good, and some of it needs work. I was going to post my work with the understanding that it is my effort, but someone elses ideas (copyrighted/can't sell it). I just saw where I can't leave attachments, lol. If you would like to look at what I have and give some feed back, please feel free to contact me. Rollin on, theunknownreturns This is not a good place to post 3,5 conversions, but why dont you just post it over at the Mystara board? You will have to cut&paste though. I'm sure the people there will love it. In any case I'm interested in seeing the files. Back to topic, yeah Red Steel is a cool campaign. Part of it is wild west, but also quite a bit of swashbuckling, cool Mystaran races and new and different powers. The Red Curse bit has been criticized a bit because many people like the original version better; the one featured in Dragon Magazine's Voyage of the Princess Ark. Havard I don't have Princess Ark (the maps, yes, but not the article). What are the differences between Red Steel, Princess Ark, and the Savage Coast Campaign Setting? I also noticed that the map in module "X9 The Savage Coast" is much less civilized than the other sources, and I'm a bit confused about the timeline. Did they settle all those kingdoms that quickly or did they just ignore X9? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : Agathokles Date : 10-16-06 11:52 AM Thread Title : Re: Resurrecting Great Games I don't have Princess Ark (the maps, yes, but not the article). Did they settle all those kingdoms that quickly or did they just ignore X9? The OD&D line evolved quickly with the Gazetteer series, so most adventures tend to be misplaced in the timeline: e.g., Castle Amber does not happen after 1000 AC, and in general its timeline does not fit with the one given in the Glantri GAZ. The same happens with X9 and Red Steel/Savage Coast -- some elements of X9 are incompatible with the Savage Coast timeline (e.g., nations that didn't exist at the same time). The main difference between Red Steel and VotPA is in the nature of the Red Curse, which in VotPA is basically cinnabar poisoning, which can be countered by using red steel tokens, and lead to death otherwise. Red Steel/Savage Coast revises this to a more "X-Men"-like version, and gives different origins and nature to the curse. It also moves the timeline 10 years later. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 08:18 AM.
