Which ones should I buy?

I'm thinking about getting some of the Planescape ESDs to fill in my collection, and I'd like your recommendations on which I should get first. The ones I'm considering are:

Guide to the Ethereal
Guide to the Astral
Planes of Conflict
Planes of Chaos
Inner Planes
Dead Gods

Of the products on that list, which ones do you think are the best, and why? Keep in mind that I don't anticipate playing Planescape in the forseeable future, so I'm more concerned with which ones are entertaining to read.

I would definitely recommend Faces of Evil: A Guide to the Fiends because it's great for reading and has plenty of awesome ideas about the deeds and the very natures of the different fiendish races.

Nobody else has any opinions?

It's all very well recommending Faces of Evil, but if something doesn't appear on the list I gave, it's either because I already have it or because I'm not interested in it. I was considering getting Faces of Evil at one point, but I decided that since I barely skimmed the descriptions of the fiends in the Monster Manual, I'm not likely to ever get around to reading a book full of much longer and more in-depth descriptions of the same thing.

Well Wyvern the list you have has some really good reads in it. If you are looking to run an awesome adventure, then Dead Gods is far and away one of the best Anthology/deluxe adventures planescape ever had. Of the rest of the list the two boxed sets (chaos and conflict) are your best bets. The Inner Planes and Transitive planes are ok, but the Outer Planes is really where planescape shined. Chaos, Conflict, or Dead Gods.

Thanks for the advice; I'll take it into consideration. One more question: between the Astral and Ethereal, which would you say is the better read?

Astral is definitely better. I'm a githyanki fan and it's chock full of good stuff. Also the artwork tends to be better. Tony diterlizzi was still the primary illustrator for Astral, towards the end of PS, the quality of the art started to diminish rapidly (*cough*adam rex*cough*)

I found the interludes in dead gods really entertaining.

Good luck even finding the guide to the Astral Plane.

Any of those would be good, though. Personally, I like the Inner Planes. But that's just me.

Are they missing any? I ask because I plan to eventually buy all of these. One tip for those who, like me, don't have a broadband connection: Cozy up to a friend who does!

Many, if not most, of these will have multiple parts. The trick is, everything after the first section is available for download on the product page. Of course, you're still stuck with downloading a 15MB file for each product...

I just finished downloading the primary files for 16 of the Alternity PDFs I wanted. However, not wanting to download the additional 18 files, someone offered to download them for me. What took me over 24 hours to do over a dialup (because of disconnects and a couple Blue Screens of Death), he easily surpassed in 15 minutes.

So, are these all the Planescape products? Or will I have to wait for a few missing ones? (There are three Alternity products that I want, especially Mindwalking: Guide to Psionics, that are not ESDs yet.)

They are missing 'On Hallowed Ground'. Again, there is a complete list of Planescape releases here.

Or you could just order it on CD. RPGNow offers that and probably SVGames does too.

Argh, they're missing On Hallowed Ground?!?! Can't go without that. I don't want to get yet another 28 boxes of RPG stuff, which is why I'm downloading these things and putting them on zip disks (my cd burner software got lost last time my computer had to be wiped...).

Have you had rpgnow burn you a CD of WOTC ESDs recently? Because I asked, and WOTC made them stop distributing the ESDs on CD. So the only way around that is to ask someone else to do it.

I am not looking forward to trying to recreate my entire collection (the TSR/WOTC portion, at least) in PDFs. First is the time involved in downloading the stuff. Second is the fact that there are a lot of product that's just missing. I may have to buy the missing products on eBay, and sell 'em again when they get around to scanning them.

I've recently loaded up on quite a few PS modules. I've yet to dig into the reference books, but may. The fact is that these matierals are commonly available on E-bay and you can often get a good price. (I've paid under the typical $9.95 modern day WotC market value for mint condition adventures - still in the wraps.) So, go for it!
