A few years back, Wotc came out with some great sequels to the early classics. Tomb of Horrors, Temple of Elemental Evil, Keep on the Borderlands, even White Plume Mountain got a touch up.

But how many of us have built upon those favorites in our own games? What have you done with the classics in your own campaigns?

Have you linked some to others? Have you omitted some in favor of a better story line? Did you do any cross-overs between the British and American series?

Care to share?

I was thinking about using (heavily modified and updated) versions of "I2 tomb of the lizard king" and "L3 deep dwarven delve" later on in my greyhawk campaign, but I have not decided whether or not to do so yet.

I had my own follow up to White Plume Mountain, in which the PCs have to deal with Big K, who was out for revenge after the party returned the weapons he had stolen. This was back in 1980 or so, and most of the DMs I knew expanded the module to bring in Kereptas. I also expanded the Hall of Pentacles from the Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth, made it into a mostly deserted stronghold that Iggwilv once used.

I'd definitely be interested in comparing notes Scott, since I've done those two as well ;D

Our party is half way through White Plume with K-scrolls flying around the city of Greyhawk witnessed by a seperate PC-party (same players) and unless we win things do not look good.

Also out of the 6no players, 2no are in real trouble as my PC has most of the K-scrolls memorised and our toughest fighter has blackrazor contolling him and he's getting strange .... my PC also has Wave demanding a swim in the Nyr Dyv but thats not as bad as blood every day

We just need to find Mossmutter and get his/her item find this fane and dump the stuff (if they let us) and run away. Not good.

I linked the TOEE and the GDQ series. But then, I think a lot of people have done that.

I was in a game that spent 7 actual years, (23 game years) 3 GM's, over 25 players and over 75 PC's in The Temple. I still LOVE Heirophant Druids (did anyone actually survive without them??) We destroyed and rebuilt Nulb and laid that cursed site BARE (almost).

I almost went home and cried when I saw RttTEE on the shelf. Nothing like having the Gods undo everything your characters did. I think all those "Return to" modules were a mistake.

if you don't buy the module then it doesn't undo anything that you did in your campaign... and since your actions only affect your campaing anyway (i know for instance that what you guys did in ToEE had no affect what so ever on my campaign, where several groups of adventurers assualted the temple, but all of them generaly fell back after doing some serious damage to the various sects, and one group was sadly lost in the elemental nodes.) there is no reason to cry about anything, just don't buy the module if it will adversly affect your campaign. (or better yet, buy it and modifiy it to fit your campaign).

I realize our campaign doesn't effect anyone else's. My point is with so many adventure locations that haven't been done commercially, they shouldn't go back to areas that have already been dealt with. Broad worldwide changes (like the Greyhawk wars) can be dealt with in almost any existing campaign. However, when a product highlighting a specific area is done, it should be done. The "Return To" series was a cheap marketing tool, that like most sequals, stunk. It showed how little respect WOTC had for established Greyhawk campaigns. This should not be a shock to any long term Greyhawk player. I was glad to see the product support, but disappointed about how they did it.
