Of course, belonging to my favourite setting helps a lot too. Agreed, that was a stellar module... especially the siege of the homestead! Another low level fave of mine: N1 - Against the Cult of the Reptile God. I have a feeling that Paizo's new module line will include a few low level adventures that will make it onto my favourite low level modules list. The Ravenloft module "Night of the Walking Dead" is also quite good... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 8] Author : shadzar Date : 07-05-07 02:41 AM Thread Title : Re: Favorite low level module i always liked Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 9] Author : True_Atlantean Date : 07-05-07 07:44 AM Thread Title : Re: Favorite low level module I'm a sucker for T1: The Village of Hommlet; or failing that a scaled down version of The Isle of Dread. T1 had about everything you could want in a module, opportunities for role-playing, a township to explore, and the Moathouse of Evil just up the road. Add a few very oddly named NPC's and a brilliant menu at the tavern and you've got the lot. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 10] Author : Llwch Date : 07-05-07 11:48 AM Thread Title : Re: Favorite low level module Another one I like (and have gamed out a few times) is the Forgotten Realms' module "Under Ilefarn". Even though the pregenerated PCs in it were a bit... unconventional and a bit unorthodox (at least, as far as "rules lawyers" are concerned), the module itself plays out quite well. Naturally, I've never run it (or any other module, in recent memory) using the module-provided pregenerated PCs. I always like to give my gamers the opportunity to make the characters (and group) that they wish to play (excepting evils, of course - for obvious reasons). -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 11] Author : bshugg Date : 07-10-07 10:47 AM Thread Title : Re: Favorite low level module Lost Island of Castantimir. This module rocks! I ran it once as a player in 1st edition. 2 times as a DM in 2nd, and probably a half dozen with 3rd. The descriptions and environments the PC's interact with are what DnD is all about. It's a bit dated, but a few tweaks makes it perfect for running a group through as a one shot. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 12] Author : Varl Date : 07-10-07 03:45 PM Thread Title : Re: Favorite low level module Lost Island of Castantimir. B2 keep on the borderlands... this one got me hooked on role playing games. T1 village of homlet every time I DM'd it or played in it we had to track down a frog that swallowed somebody.. usually the halfling pc. Crucible of Freya put out by necromancer games for 3.0. Think theres a 3.5 update out there. Had all sorts of things to do and people in a village to meet. Also had some big bad critters around that PC's learn to avoid or end up rolling up new characters. Whats really fun is those big bad monsters they avoid at level 1-2 get put on the "to do" list and PCs always come back at level 5-6 and hunt em down just for the principal of it. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 15] Author : sgt_d Date : 07-11-07 12:02 AM Thread Title : Re: Favorite low level module For me, it's hard NOT to name B2: Keep on The Borderlands as my favorite low-level module. It was so different, to me, than any other module I had DM'd. I think it was the first time (and only, probably) I actually wanted to stop reading the module and coerce another one of my players to DM me through the module. The other one is N2, The Forest Oracle. I loved that module. Everything about it. I still remember the players reaction on finding area 6 - The Pavilion. They were a little suprised to find a sleeping deer...and Evan the Forester. :D Dynel -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 21] Author : GregH Date : 08-07-07 04:09 PM Thread Title : Re: Favorite low level module i always liked Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh. Seconded. In fact, I'll add U2 as well (The Danger at Dunwater). U3 is kinda necessary at that point, to finish off the story, but it breaks down with the massive amounts of sahaugin and the underwater adventuring. For a low-level party it requires too much outside help to pull it off. What's that selling for these days - $200? I've got the paizo pdfs of all the H series. Wow, that one's far beyond epic. You should be warned that it's almost pointless to update to 3.5 though, because of the massive difference in power level between a 100th level 1st edition character and a 100th level 3rd edition one. The Immortals Handbook guy did a re-envisioning of it for 100th level play, though. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 33] Author : sgt_d Date : 08-28-07 09:14 PM Thread Title : Re: Favorite low level module Oh yeah I forgot about H4. I managed to snag my own copy of the module last year for only $60. (to an extent, this was a deal; it had everything, and was in great shape) The one that really has the disturbing price is H1, which I've seen go for well over $150-$200, if it has all the cut-outs & whatnot. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 34] Author : elondir Date : 08-29-07 10:38 AM Thread Title : Re: Favorite low level module What's weirder is Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil was going for over $200 on ebay recently. No blurriness or smudged words, but you may now and then get a scan where the original owner of the thing made some notes in the margins.
