It's 24 miles/hex, so I couldn't put too much detail: http://home.dei.polimi.it/agosta/.private/myoshima1.bmp Now, what's on the map: Cities: apart from the capitol, Mara (a veritable metropolis, on par with Thyatis), we've got 3 (much smaller) imperial cities: Byakkyo: founded less than one century ago as the new capitol, it fell afoul of a curse and was abandoned less than a year after the court moved there. It is now inhabited by priests trying to contain the curse, and those inhabitants who are too poor to relocate. Kamakura: siege of the ancient Kamakura shoguns, it was partially destroyed when the last Kamakura shogun was detroned. Emperor Hirameki took control of the city at the foundation of the empire, and never allowed it to be assigned to vassals. Minato: an harbor town founded after the end of the Myoshiman isolation to host the fleet that would support the (failed) invasion of Selimpore. The towns marked on the map are the provincial capitols of the thirteen largest provinces. There are 20-odd smaller province, but it's impossible to mark them all (also, I haven't designed or even named most of those yet). -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : Cthulhudrew Date : 08-24-07 06:28 PM Thread Title : Re: Myoshima: map Just one thing to note, I haven't checked your map against Arcanda's (that's the one on the Vaults, right?), but I recall at the time I first saw it there was at least one major thing that didn't jibe with the description given in Dragon magazine. The location of one of the nations, as I recall (I want to say it was something like making Surabayang- an island nation- landlocked, but I don't remember). I'll double check when I get somewhere I can look at the source material. I'll also look at some of the old preliminary sketches I'd done and see if I can offer any other suggestions. [EDIT- I should really read and look at things before I respond. This is just a map of Myoshima, not Patera itself, so it doesn't really matter. :p] -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : Agathokles Date : 08-24-07 06:47 PM Thread Title : Re: Myoshima: map [EDIT- I should really read and look at things before I respond. Basically, I've used the shape of Myoshima itself, though I changed the distance between the major islands. The map above (assuming I did everything correctly) should have the right land surface, and can be inserted pretty seamlessly into Arcanda's map, or any other map we may devise for Patera -- since Myoshima is definitely an island (Myo-shima might mean "excellent island" or something like that -- shima means island in Japanese, myo has several meanings). It makes it much easier to visualize the locations you are discussing. Where would the other nations be in relation to the sites shown on this map? Are you planning on including a "planetary" map of Patera as well? BTW: I couldnt find Arcanda's map anywhere. Linky? I'll have to trace better coastlines at some point, and add some more places names. The other nations are (more or less) in the same position as they are in Arcanda's map. I don't think I'll put a planetary map -- I prefer leaving space for people who wish to work on those area and make something compatible with my work. OTOH, I'd like to put a smaller scale (8-miles) map of a single province. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 6] Author : Agathokles Date : 08-29-07 05:42 PM Thread Title : Re: Myoshima: map Note that I've updated the map. This is the final version (or close to that). Are you planning on producing a Myoshima sourcebook at some point, based on your posts? Indeed. Actually, I've already written a 55-pages Myoshima sourcebook this summer. I'm finishing up some details, and applying corrections based on the comment I'm receiving. A draft of the sourcebook will come up during the week-end or at the beginning of next week.
