NO, THIS IS NO OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT.

- for it has an entirely unofficial purpose! :D

I the last few months I have thought and written a concept for several WoG - based campaigns that all deal with the northern parts of the Flanaess.
It's not that my humble pdf document would be a piece of art, but nevertheless, I want as much Greyhawk players as possible to play it (and praise me for it, you know )

I am not sure if it is worth enough to be published in such respected magazines as the Oerth Journal, so I plan to release it by myself on a yet - to - be created homepage.

As this forum is regularily visited by the same group of highly skilled Dungeon Masters and overviewed by the company I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to work for some day, I post this thread as some sort of promotion.

(TO MAKE THAT CLEAR, I do not plan to get money of it, nor to violate the copyright that WotC and TSR obtain!)

I am doing the last corrections these days, then will convert it to pdf, but as the homepage - thing may take some time, I am planning to go online for the last October week.

Lost Kingdoms of the Flanaess: Kul'gobsula

[/CENTER]

will explain my version of the fate of the last Ariador cities after their fall in the devastating war against the godlike lich - king Vecna.
Although the Grey Elves seem to have vanished from the northern mountains, their cities did not share their fate...
Only the wisest sages of the Aerdy Kingdom shall know the essence of the creatures that now lurk what once was the crown of what once was the mightiest kingdom in the history of the Flanaess...

The module is intended as a campaign sourcebook with an estimated length of about 100 pages and will feature information for AD&D 3.5.
Also I hope that I can provide you with maps and illustrations...

I hope, I awoke your interest for my upcoming work!
I will keep you informed about the definite date of release.

Good luck, Ivid!

You may want to rename the thread title though...

The title, as you mentioned, is not a definitive one...
KUL'GOBSULA, according to the famous drow dictionary netbook, means *prison*.
Another fitting title would be *prison of ice*, something like that... ;)

Hi all -
I noticed that you stated that this is going on an as of yet to be named website. Well if you need, www.GreyhawkOnline.com is designed for that purpose. Also as the downloads editor of CanonFire! I PDF lots of articles to make them into a concise packet and can help with that if you need.
Let me know if there is anything that I can do to help.

I am surprised that there has not been anything new for official Greyhawk in a while.

Why surprised? GH has long been used as a dumping grou.. er .. "core setting" by WotC for every new rules. Plus, the setting in itself is in the hands of the RPGA.

Hasbro has no good business reason to change this, especially with their new Eberron setting. They have to milk money out of it for quite a while, so anything that might "distract" the customers from the new flavor of the month would be bad.

By the way Ivid, you might want to change the title of this thread. It could give a heartattack to some old fans ;)

Yeah, the original title was kind of *fake*.

I seriously apologize for having awoken great expectations.

I must confess: I did this for *publicity* reasons. - I don't post here to often, as I don't know half of WoG as people here normally know, and people might just ignore my thread.
I hope that I did not confuse or fool too many forum jumpers!

If I was allowed to post my book on Cannonfire!, it be delighted!! But I am yet very unsure about my capacity to develop a playable scenario that *hasn't been seen yet* AND *is attractive*. And the download managers at Greyhawkonline surely only post what they consider valuable...

To be honest, I am quite happy that Greyhawk doesn't get too much *wizardish* attention at the moment.
It may sound polemic and surely is not true at all, but in my opinion, most of the settings officially in use tend to become spoiled for players!
(Just look how they killed Birthright with that videogame, what they did to Dragonlance: Age of Mortals, how controverse Ravenloft has become, or how they try get the last out of FR... Not to mention that once-sounding-so-promising Eberron - thing...)
The problem of those settings is not that they weren't well- thought or badly described, it's that there are far too much efforts to get more money out of it by publishing tons of mediocre modules... *How brutal that sounds*
WoG is a good exception, because the steps developers or the RPGA do are not too big. You can quietly develop your setting without feeling forced to buy more and more modules.

*If I may say my opinion once more, regarding that no one was asking for it :D* I think that making the Paizo magazines (or something homegrown by Wizards) worldwide available would boost roleplaying far more than a new setting a year and the third kinda Time of Troubles in Faerun will ever do.

*Am I not the wisest goofer around?! You at WoC: Make me president of your company!!!*

BTW try getting the August issue of the Dragon! The Article on Balefire was the most intriguing rpg - related thing I read for months!

Hi all -
Ivid, if you're unsure if your product is going to be worthwhile, why not have it proof read. All the submissions in the OJ are proof read by a team of readers. My articles were proof read by someone, returned to me, re-written, submitted (with the corrections [if I felt that they were correct], and often with even more information), re-read by the same or another editor, returned to me for more adjustments, and then again submitted (this time without much additional information). At this point the editor in chief may or may not have looked at it. If not, they likely would around this time, making any suggestions that they would. If the aritcle had game mechanics in it, it was passed to the appropriate editor (1e, 2e, 3e, 3.5e, hack-master) etc. Thus the reason for the length of time between OJ's. But also the reason for the OJ to be a classy download.
Now if you do not wish to have your product have the same fine tooth comb, CanonFire!'s content is only edited for major spelling errors. If you want to have something inbetween, something that not only fixes spelling errors, but also canonical errors, then I'm sure that there are enough "fans" that would and are willing to help out in these regards. There are many "fans" that consider themselves "experts" in a particular region. Myself, I see the Pale as my region. So although your article is set in the past, there are many people that would consider themselves knowledgeable and would likely be willing to help you flesh things out. Come by Greychat on Thursday nights. Check out the CanonFire! forums. Ask someone here to help you with making your product "fresh and believeable" even before "anybody" see's it. I'm sure that whomever is willing to help you, isn't going to come here on the board and blab your story, nor are they going to yank it and call it theirs. I've seen Gary Holian's manuscript on a couple of things that appeared in the LGJ long before they ever showed up. I helped flesh things out and offered suggestinons and ideas that he accepted and some that he didn't. Greyhawk is for the fan's and fans like to quibble about the latest thing, and will likely do the same with your work anyway.
Be glad that it might happen, as it means that there are those that will use your hard work in their own game, make reference to it in their own writings and canonize it.
CanonFire! and GreyhawkOnline are slightly different. CF! is it's own thing, while the majority of the downloads are actually hosted on GHO. This is only to support CF! in it's bandwidth useage so we don't use more than we're allowed in any given month. GHO is also intended to give those that need webspace for a web site the place to do so, while articles and downloads are placed on CF!, and in anycase you and any other fans are welcome to boths resources.
I look forward to your final project!

I think in the end my sourcebook could end up at cannonfire! downloads
Now I will work it out and then contact you!!

Thanks for your support! That is very encouraging!

PS: My work is not meant to feature too much Rule information - it should be playable with any system in use...

PPS: (just edited) I also want to considerate the yet not very popular idea of campaign settings in Oerth's past, like they did with the FR Arcane Age.

Most of WoG players I know focus on the 570s and 580s of the Flanaess. Is there anyone who tried a campaign in Seuloise for example?

Is there official stuff available for such a purpose?

...November...

What a fool I was...

Now, however, I expect to complete my reedition in June and then would love to present my project to the community.

*I tend to keep my word*
