I was reading Oerth Journal 15 recently and got interested in their Old Faith Bard PrC. I really liked the concept of a diplomatic emissary for the druidic communauty (I started playing D&D in the late 90's, so I haven't know the bard from earlier works), been trained into warfare and subterfuge before gaining any druidic tutelage. But I was stupefied to see, that in order to reach the top of the organisation you had to pass trough a 23 level prestige class

I tried do bring back the Old Faith Bard PrC to a more usual 10 level progression

Old Faith Bard

Description: I don't think I could do better than the fluff from OJ15 so I'll refer to it for the PrC description

Hit Die: d6

Requirements:

Alignment: must have a neutral on at least one axis (LN,NG,N,NE,CN)
Base Attack Bonus: +8

Class Features

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Old Faith Bard gain no proficiency with weapon or armor. Also an Old Faith Bard wearing an armor heavier than light may be affected by spell faillure as per arcane spell caster because these armor restrain the dexterity the Old Faith Bard need to play the musical instrument required as somatic components

8th +6/+1 +2 +6 +6 Venom immunity 3 3 3 1 -
9th +6/+1 +3 +6 +6 Mass suggestion 3 3 3 2 0*
10th +7/+2 +3 +7 +7 A thousand faces 3 3 3 3 1

Bardic Cant see OJ15

Every other abilities are as those from the Bard and the Druid in PHB 3.5

The only thing I have to figure out is how to link every Bardic college to the advancement. Any thought are welcome

P.S. sorry for the horrible formating of the table, it my first attempt for such and honestly, I'm far from good at posting

I thought that's what the Fochlucan Lyrist was with the exception of visiting other colleges throughout the progression.

Edit: I think the link broke: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ex/20050107a&page=2

I don't think the Fochlucan Lyrist reach the Old Faith Bard as presented in OJ15, or 1st edition Bard. It's more like an Bard/Druid multi-class instead of an emissary/spy for a druidic organisation, as I see the role played by the Old Faith Bard.

Ahh, I see what you mean. I think they can work well together as different roles for the same organization.
