Jamie just passed along a note to me that Spectre of Sorrows is going to be premiering at Origins!

Spectre will be on store shelves soon. Keep watching for further details.

If anyone grabs a copy at Origins, be sure to let the rest of us know how you like it.

One day I dream that I will log onto Amazon and see shipped next to SoS and OoS. One day. . .

Wish I could buy them at the FLGS, but all the ones near me wont sell DL because its not as popular as Eberron. . . Fools, are they blind, do they not see Krynn as the greatest world ever?!

I guess my initial reaction to this news is "Gwah?! Jamie told me last year at GenCon that Sovereign Press wasn't going to be at Origins this year."

The secondary reaction would, of course, be: "Yay, I finally get to run Spectre of Sorrows. Mayhaps I'll pick it up at GenCon this year."

Very much so. There are events in Spectre that will have a dramatic impact on Dragonlance.

And that's about all I can say on the subject.

Yes. Consider this an open request on my part for folks who acquire a copy of Spectre not to blow any surprises. There are a number of twists and unannounced NPCs and locations that show up in the book which we deliberately didn't advertise, for instance.

Of course, if you do get the book and want to scream at me for those, you can PM me or something.

Why is it that everytime someone announces that a new supplement is being released, everyone has to take a big swig on the Deadline flavored Haterade?

As has been stated many times before on these boards:

a) this really isn't the place to be complaining about these types of things. I'm referring to the last time something like this happened and a Wiz_O had to close down the thread.

b) there are a lot of factors that go into publishing a book, delays occur, and are often beyond the author's control.

I'm not advocating that we all just blindly accept everything anyone tells us without question, I'm just asking that we all be a little bit more understanding about things like this. If you have a problem, why not write a letter expressing your feelings? How about a private e-mail? How about not clogging the boards with an arrogant, egotistical, attitude? How many months has the preview chapter been up?

The adventure has clearly been written for quite some time. Something must have come up.

What about non-patronizing attitudes that allow freedom of expression and disappointment.

A chapter in a module after how long cannot a campaign make.

You get that after the first couple of times you go on about it. When it's all you ever say, and you join in a thread solely to say it, and you continue to sign up time after time on message boards with a different name just to keep doing that, the sympathy runs out real quick.

I'm sorry you feel that way, but honestly, that was my subtle nudge to keep this discussion on topic and not incur the wrath of WizO Sith (Revenge thereof!).

These boards have had way too many flame wars regarding the Age of Mortals series of modules and, more specifically, Sovereign Press' release schedule. I was just trying to avoid another one.

Seriously, if anyone is really worried about this set of items being late, the best option is to just buy the adventures when they actually come out, and don't run them. Wait for all three to actually come out, and then play them all the way through.

Delays are pretty much assured here, you either become used to it and accept the products for what they are, or get annoyed and don't purchase them. Most of the time I'm a big advocate for people speaking up so they can get changed enacted, but in this case SP obvisouly is well aware of the problem, and doesnt really seem to be able to do much about it. constraints on them in some shape or form prevent them, so *shrug*.

My advice to anyone is add 2-3 months onto any release date. And kind of shoot for that date to see a product. Luckily the few products that have come out have been the essential ones I wanted for my campaign, so I can wait a long time for any others. Also WoTC makes a lot of products that are easily fit into Dragonlance, so I use most of those. Some really good products... and some not so good.. but hey its cool.

I dunno... again I'm usually all for a person trying to get a change, but in this case I think its a moot point to keep arguing about it. If anyone new comes along and asks why a product isnt out, that is a time to say "SP tends to be behind schedule". But if its pretty much someone who's around here much, there really isnt a need to constantly point out all the products are late.

I've looked over Key of Destiny and it looks great, but I'm going with the route I spoke above about. I'll collest all three and eventually run them in a long campaign, where I have everything set out and can plan accordingly. I can always say that the products are really good in my opinion, if that counts for something, and to me.. it does.

Advanced copies were out at Origins and ComicCon. The main print run came in soon after that and went to distributors. All of the major RPG online vendors have it in stock, and gaming stores should also have it. One of the issues may have been that the store didn't preorder it, or the distributor ran out of stock, or some other kind of thing. Sovereign Press isn't WOTC or White Wolf, so their stuff isn't always on sale at the store on the day of its release.

I have SoS, I bought it retail. It is truely magnificent... though getting it was an event unto itself.

It was a many splendored adventure that took me far from my home in Illinois to the strange far away land of Wisconsin, a mythical land... where D&D was born, a strange land full of cheese, beer, and fireworks... and stores with no other name than "Beer, Cheese, and Fireworks."

I did not head into this mythical land blind... no I had employed methods arcane to consult a great sage, so that I might scry the location of the Spectre of Sorrows, whose exitance is but a whisper in the halls of the powerful. My quest was fraught with peril for I wore the symbol of my homeland, the red 'C' stamped proudly upon a sea of blue upon my cap. Truely dangerous when traveling to the land of the cheeseheads.

When I reached the crossroads where the text was rumored to be I felt my pusle quicken, I knew where to look, it had been fortold to me. The sights I witnessed were truely bizzare, I would not fault you friends if you did not believe what I am about to tell you... for beasts fantastic were my signpost. The elephant and the giraffe stood tall and true in the square and a lion, yes friends a lion. These dangers were fortold and I knew I was in the right place.

I walked into the peddler's shoppe where the sage had guided me, and lo there it was, the rumor made real, the Spectre of Sorrows! I reached out to pick it up, to grasp my destiny! It was heavier than I expected, indeed I thought I picked up two... but no, the fabled book not only existed... it was huge. Now dispite the peddler's slight confusion as to it's fair market price I recieved it at the correct cost, and like a thief in the night I sped off to toil over the tome and learn what secrets it held.

The above story is actually true... the sage was Jamie Chambers... who took the time from his busy schedule to help me locate SoS... which wasn't really that far of a drive for me, for all my bluster I live 15 minutes from Wisconsin, and maybe another 20-30 to the store that had SoS... now the animals... that is absolutely true... no foolin, scouts honor... right across from the store. Really.

Anyway SoS is a fantastic module. I bought it last Friday and my friends were so exited that I got it (they really loved KoD) they demanded I run it... I ran two sessions last weekend and we're well into SoS now and well on our way... While I was able to read all I needed to run the session as far as I did I haven't been able to finish reading the whole thing till today... and wow. I'm utterly amazed Cam. Master Yap, Picket, the theatre manager, the mystery guest of chapter 6... wow. I am utterly blown away.

Take your time! Don't blow through the module too quickly. I'm still working on part three.

Master Yap, by the way, first appeared in my own Dragonlance campaign, which is where a lot of the things in Spectre of Sorrows first appeared or were playtested. Think of him as having a voice like a cross between Yoda and a daschund.

Truly amazing tale, Nived! I want my copy NOW! I can't wait until Friday. I wish I lived near the Illinois and Wisconsin border. The mention of a surprise guest in Chapter Six has me frothing at the mouth!

Cheers,
Cam

Believe me I don't want to rush through it but demands were made. Partially because my group tends to halt game from mid September to mid November since our weekends become a blur of running a haunted house... game will slow to a crawl and they wanted some DL goodness now.

Still I too am concerned with the speed... but Stormwrack might provide some diversion in the blood sea.

You lucky little punk, I have to wait until the end of the week for my game store to get my copy in! :P

[EDIT] Welcome to my ignore list, Treymordin.

*stammer* well, um, I guess all I can say is 'nyah!' :D
Just kiddin Daedavias, I'm sure you'll be well rewarded for your patience. The book is great so far, and there is ALOT of material to cover. This is a seriously thick module (and some areas have small print in order to cram all the content goodness in). Great job guys. I can't wait to discover what the big secret for chapter 6 is...

edit- okay, I couldn't stand the suspense, and looked over chapter 6. Damn dude, want... to .... post..... spoiler..... graaaah! Very nice work, all around. Now back to work guys, I can't wait to see how this ends in PoC! :D

I guess it this just goes to show that the good things ARE worth waiting for. You know, after all of this suspense I am probably going to flip straight to Chapter Six and see what all the fuss is about. Thanks a lot guys, you may not have actually dropped a spoiler, but you did spoil the ending for me vicariously. :P

I really enjoyed the module as well. Cam you did a fine job, and Kipper did a good job with maps.

All in all a great adventure.

Oh and I really enjoyed the SPOILER in Chapter 6. Pure genious.

The module arrived yesterday to my local shop. Looks great, hope it was worth the wait. Should I play it out slow and add many side treks for my players? I need to know in order to plan out the course of the campaign.
