Skyship of Love after Alphatia
by GreenbrierAnybody do anything with the Airship of Love post-Wrath? DotE pg. 63 says it "makes cruises of the Empire, beginning and ending on Gaity". So unless it was on the ground in Alphatia when the continent sank, the Airship (and anyone on board) could have survived the cataclysm and remained in the outer world. With Rainbow Park in ruins and the bulk of the Alphatian population who vacationed there gone, I don't see much hope for a resurgence of tourism on Gaity. But I could see other possibilities for Mystara's flying love boat...
Serraine - maybe Serraine could take the place of Gaity and the Airship could cruise between large KW cities and the Flying City, with residents of each mingling on board and enjoying their port time in what would be, to them, an exotic locale.
Ierendi - remember the old Love Boat/Fantasy Island crossovers on TV? Maybe the Airship could join Mr. Coarke on Fletcher Island and ferry passengers from the islands or the mainland to get their fantasies fulfilled, while enjoying a luxurious air cruise before and after.
Mositius - Thyatis' holiday island would make another great homebase for the ship. Duchess Triella Tien-Tang is half-Alphatian, maybe she has contacts that could bring the Airship of Love to Argevin?
I think a combination of these might be the most fun...looking at the "Serraine and the Known World" section of PC2 on pg. 47 Glantri, the Broken Lands, Ylaruam and the Northern Reaches are said to be avoided by the Flying City. Thyatis also sounds problematic with "[t]he empire secretly desires the city for their own purposes!" Maybe after WotI this is less of an issue as Thyatis is rapidly developing its own aerial capabilities? The involvement of someone influential like the Duchess of Mositius with the Airship would also help to protect it in imperial skies.
I could see the Airship of Love on a regular route around the northern Sea of Dread...Ierendi City to Vlad, Fletcher Island then on to Shireton and Specularum, from there to Thyatis City and Argevin Town, Mositius. Then west stopping in Minrothad en route back to Ierendi City. In summer it could also go from Ierendi up to Darokin City (would it dare go on to Corunglain to pick up Glantrian passengers? Probably safer to make them come down to Darokin City...), and from Specularum up to Selenica & possibly Dengar. And maybe a quarterly rendezvous in midair with Serraine to pickup/dropoff passengers there.
