New spells

by Cab Davidson

Just asked chat GPT "Write a new 3rd level magic user spell for BECMI Dungeons and Dragons, obeying the normal format for that edition of the game.
Sure, here's a new 3rd level magic user spell for BECMI Dungeons and Dragons:"

And it came out with...

Name: Dimensional Shield
Level: 3
Range: Self
Duration: 1 hour
Effect: Creates a shimmering barrier around the caster, deflecting incoming attacks.

Description: This spell creates a protective shield around the caster that lasts for one hour. The shield is semi-transparent and shimmers with a faint blue light. The shield provides a +2 bonus to the caster's AC, and also grants immunity to one physical attack per round. This could be a melee attack, a missile attack, or a thrown object. The shield also protects against environmental hazards such as falling rocks or hot coals. If the caster takes damage from any source while the shield is active, the shield will shimmer and fade away, indicating that it has been depleted. The caster can only have one Dimensional Shield active at a time.

I mean... That actually isn't bad.

I then asked for a third level cleric spell, and it's rather over-powered!

Chant of Vigor

Range: 0
Duration: 1 turn per level
Effect: One creature per level

This spell imbues a group of creatures with a burst of energy, allowing them to fight on despite their injuries. Each creature affected by the spell gains 1d6 temporary hit points per level of the caster. These temporary hit points are lost first, before any actual hit point damage is taken. Additionally, the creatures gain a +1 bonus to attack rolls and saving throws for the duration of the spell.
