Akalian Class (OD&D)

by Joaquin Menchaca

The Akalians are a race of elves that have lived in the Land of Dreams, a.k.a. DreamLand, since the Age of Dreams. The Akalians are identical in every aspect to the Light Elves of Alfheim, however they have some differences. The major difference is that hair and all of their eyes are completely black. However to the mortal world, they have appear as normal Light Elves. As with all fairy, the Akalians have the ability to be invisible to mortals at will. The also have the second sight which allows them to see beyond the invisibility and illusions of other Good Folk.

The Akalians have a rich and complex society with several clans. Each clan has a particular task and duty to fulfil within society. One of the clans that is popular is the Selenii clan. The Selenii clan is responsible for the protection of Akalian society against evil entities, unseelie, and others that would seek to harm or destroy the Akalians. The Selenii serve as special agents within this grand mission. The Selenii serve many roles within the Order of Selenii. Some roles include roles of infiltration, collectors of arcane knowledge, espionage, subversion, and sabotage. Though many of these roles are quite serious and at much risk of the lives of a Selenii agent, they view their role as a great game. They receive their missions with enthusiasm and much excitement as possible. They feel "The greater the challenge, the greater the game". The completely acts of sabotage, they do this in the form a grand prank. The more humorous the prank becomes, the more fame a Selenii agent will require.

As with other fairies and elves, the Akalians have innate magical talent which improves per level. Unlike the elves of Mystara, they do not focus on the art of hunting or combat, but rather the art of trickery, deceit, disguise, and stealth. These abilities more commonly reflect that of a thief.
