Alternate Uses for Saving Throws

Poison or Death Ray Con Exhaustion, enduring physical tasks, walking through desert/jungle
Magic Wand Dex* Evading dangerous traps, leaping off collapsing floors/pillars
Paralysis, Turn to Stone Str Feats of Strength. Pitting yourself against a massive force.
Breath Weapon Dex Evading massive threats (Avalanches, collapsing tunnels)
Rod /Staff/ Spell Int* Evading intrigue, Intellectual traps

What do you think of using Saving Throws for other purposes than the most common uses? I have listed some examples. Ability Adjustments are from the optional rule in the Master Set (& RC). I think I got them right.
