"Elseworld" Darokin: what if there was a civil war?

by Marc Saindon

More likely an alternate timeline PCs can travel to as a reminder of the importance of the DDC's role in keeping things together. In this version of the setting, the DDC falls prey to internal corruption, selling its services to the highest bidder, and the Kingdom of Gold just cracks and goes into a Succession Crisis, Game of Throne style.

Selenica, prompted by House Al-Azrad and a sizeable amount of converts to Al-Kalim, declares itself a new Emirate, although Ylaruam is cautious to integrate it within its borders. Darokinian loyalists, backed by Hallonica survivors of a purge, causes the city to collapse in its own civil war as the streets run red with blood.

Corunglain falls to Thar and the humanoids of the Broken Lands, turning the enslaved city into launching point for raids within Darokin. Thar promises a "great conquest" of Darokin to his troops, but his real plan is to grow both is war chest and armies for bigger ambitions: Thar is holding back until Hule launches its full-scale invasion and then intends to rally with the Master's forces.

Tenobar gets overrun by Tiger Clan warriors ("a tiger, in africa?"... these guys should be the Jaguar Clan, to better fit mesoamerican lore), and turn it into a theocratic city-state centered around the worship of everyone's favorite Immortal. Ierendi responds by occupying Athenos, for "safety concerns" (which in effect gives Ierendi 100% control of Darokin's ports).
