Fiaer Giamond

by Joseph Setorius

Where I finally get around to flushing out, and showing some off this material. Maps will probably follow before the end of the year...I hope.

So moving along with my Timeline, and getting back to throwing Mondal Giamond (Later Renamed Fiaer Giamond) into the Blackmoor, Elven, Technological Mix.

Here is a "brief" timeline of the Fiaer, and possibly Neather, as it is doubtful the Fiaer broke off and began forming their own unique culture before the Fieondic Wars ended.

Technological Periods in Fiaer Culture:

Paleolithic 2.6 Million Years Ago – 24,000 BC [400,000 – 125,000 Control of Fire]
Lower Paleolithic (Early Stone Age) [350,000 – 300,000 BC]
Middle Paleolithic (Middle Stone Age) [300,000 – 100,000 BC]
Upper Paleolithic (Late Stone Age) [100,000 – 24,000 BC]
[32,000 BC – Dogs Domesticate themselves]
Mesolithic 24,000 BC – 12,000 BC [12,000 BC – Cats “Mutual” Domestication]
Neolithic 12,000 BC – 8,000 BC [10,000 BC – First Domestication of Plants]
[8,000 BC – First Domestication of Animals]
Chalcolithic 8,000 BC – 6,000 BC
Bronze Age 6,000 BC – 4,000 BC [First Golden Age]
Iron Age 4,000 BC – 3,000 BC [Second Golden Age]
Dark Age 3,000 BC – 2,800 BC [No metallurgy for 2-300 years]
The Rediscovery 2,800 BC – 1,700 BC [Technologies & Sciences are Reestablished]
The Reawakening 1,700 BC – 900 BC [Philosophical Awakening, led by Traebow]
The Fracturing 900 BC – 200 BC [Druids, Dark Druids, & other Sects splinter]
The “Third” Golden Age 200 BC – 400 AC [The Last Traebowist dies 432(4) AC]
[The Invasion Period] 400AC – 800 AC [7 or 800 AC?]
[The Present Period] 800AC – (?)

The Fiaer began settling in Mondal Giamond around 6,000 BC. The city is about 10 to 12,000 inhabitants.
It is renamed in 4,000 BC to Fiaer Giamond. This is when the human Fiaer population exceeds the combined Elven & Mondal population.

The population of the city at that time is about 16 to 24,000 inhabitants.
In 1000 AC it is 312,000. Making it about the fifth or sixth most populous city on the Outer World.

A brief guestimate of Mondal Giamond/Fiaer Giamond Population...which will most likely change. But maybe people can say whether or not this sounds reasonable. ?

50,000 BC The First Mondal band of about 200 discovers the Giamond shaft.
Approximately every 100 years Mondal population grow 25%.
So a thousands years would look like this: 200, 250, 312.5, 390.625, 488.28125, 610.3515125, 762.939403125, 953.67425390625, 1192.0928173828125, 1490.116021728515625 or From 200 to 1490...in 100 years. Pretty slow growth. Which accurate for the Mondals. The are only slightly more or less prolific than the elves. That growth is about 745% over 100 years. Well my math not be right here. That would mean a 7.45% growth rate! That is insane!! I think the UStates' is around 2.46%. Or course 2.46% of 320 Million is alot. In fact, apparently it amounts to: 7,872,000 people!! That is roughly the population of the state of Colorado. So talking about small population growth with nations that have millions of people is a bit silly.

But I digress...

So from 200 to 1490. So if I round up to 1500, and double that figure every 1000 years:

50,000 BC 200 Pop
49,000 BC 1490 Pop
48,000 BC 2990 Pop
47,000 BC 4490 Pop

23,000 BC 39770 Pop Start of the Fieondic Wars
13,000 BC 19885 Pop End of Feiondic Wars
3,000 BC 33175 Mondal Pop at GRoF
2,990 BC 16588 Mondal Pop after GRoF Elves are about have this: 8294 Fiaer Pop 49764 = 74646 Pop after GRoF.

Population Slowly Declines until about 2800 BC from disease, The Wasting, raids and other general chaos. But the city does not fall. Making it one of the last bastions of civilization after the GRoF. However many sciences and art have either stagnated, or no longer exist.

By the time the population start growing again...in 2800 BC, there are only The Fiaer began settling in Mondal Giamond around 6,000 BC. The city is about 10 to 12,000 inhabitants.

The population in 2800 is about 18662. 4664 Mondals & Elves, and 9334 Fiaer.
By 1000 AC and 312,000 Inhabitants, there are approximately 100,000 Fiaer, 60,000 Mondals, and 40,000 Elves divided among eight clans, (circa 5,000 each).
