Frog Tea Grog

by Aoz

Not to be outdone by Fire Tea ... Aozus Markov makes his own type of tea in 1021 AC.

Frog Tea Grog is a rare and potent potion that combines the healing properties of mummy's tea with the magical essence of frogs from the Feyhiem. It was created by Aozus Markov, an Archfey of the Dark Woods who is developing a swampy domain in his fey realm. He is fascinated by frogs and has a vast collection of them, some of which have unique abilities, or some say curses. He decided to experiment with some of his specimens and see what effects they would have when mixed with mummy's tea, something he makes from some of his undead minions in his spare time.

He brewed a large batch of mummy's tea, using the wrappings of guardian mummies and the bones of frogs. He then added the essence of several frogs, each with a different color and power. He used a blue frog that could heal while water, a green frog that could jump great distances, a white frog that was very magically. He stirred the mixture with his staff and let it simmer for a day and a night.

The result was a foul-smelling liquid that had a swirling blue green. Aozus Markov had an apprentice taste it and felt they surge of energy and euphoria. He also noticed that his apprentice's skin had turned a shade of blue-green and that he had grown webbed fingers and toes. He realized that he had created a powerful potion that could heal any affliction, but also had some froggy side effects. He decided to call it Frog Tea Grog and share it with his fey friends (Feywood creatures are unaffected by the side effects).

However, he also wanted to see how mortals would react to his concoction. He contacted the Thunder Grog Company, a group in the Broken Lands. He offered them a deal: he would give them a few hundred bottles of Frog Tea Grog, if they would sell it to their customers and report back to him the results. The Thunder Grog Company agreed, thinking that it was a harmless prank and a good way to make some money.

They sold the Frog Tea Grog for 750* gold pieces per bottle, claiming that it was a rare and exotic drink from Far away. They warned their customers that it had some strange effects, but also some amazing benefits. Some of their customers were curious and brave enough to try it, while others were skeptical and wary. Those who drank it experienced a variety of sensations and transformations, depending on the amount and the type of frog essence that they consumed. Some of them became amphibious, some of them gained new abilities, some of them saw visions, and some of them regretted their decision.

The Thunder Grog Company kept track of the reactions and sent a report to Aozus Markov, who was amused and intrigued by the results. He thanked them for their cooperation and promised to send them more Frog Tea Grog in the future, if they were interested. He also asked them to keep an eye out for any unusual frogs that they might encounter in their travels, as he was always looking for new specimens for his collection (and for future Frog Tea Grogs).

Drinking this Tea potion grants the following benefits and drawbacks:
- The drinker is cured of any blindness, deafness, poison, or disease.
- The drinker's skin changes to a frog-like hue, ranging from blue to green.
- The drinker gains the ability to breathe both air and water, as well as a powerful leap. The drinker can jump up to 10 feet long or 5 feet high, with or without a running start.
-Most keep the skin moist or wet (or will die)
- The drinker heals faster when submerged in water or swamp. The drinker regains 1d4+1 hit points per day in water, or 2d4 hit points per day in swamp.
-Webbing on fingers and toes; swim as fast as walking.
-Has a carving to eat bugs.
- The drinker's spellcasting ability is enhanced. The drinker casts spells as if they were 1d4 levels higher than their actual level. A 6th level wizard casting a Fireball spell (May be able to cast as a 7 to 10th level wizard. Maximum enhancement up to 40th level)
[This is equal to eating or drinking faerie food. Eating/drinking fey food either makes it impossible (or painful) to leave Faerie or gives them power over you, and giving a fey power over you is a very dangerous and potentially fatal thing.]
- The potion's effects last until a remove curse spell is cast on the drinker.

*750 dc/gold pieces from Aozus: This is the original price that Aozus Markov offered to the Thunder Grog Company, as part of his deal to test his potion on mortals. This is the lowest price possible, as it reflects the cost of the ingredients and the labor of the brewer. However, this price is only available to the Thunder Grog Company, as they have a special relationship with Aozus Markov. Other customers would not be able to buy directly from Aozus Markov, unless they have a way to contact him and persuade him to sell them his potion.

1500 dc from Thunder Grog: This is the price that the Thunder Grog Company sells frog tea grog to their customers in Glantri. This is a reasonable markup, as it covers the transportation, storage, and distribution costs of the Thunder Grog Company, as well as their profit margin. This price also reflects the demand and supply of the market in Glantri, where frog tea grog is a new and exotic product that attracts the curiosity and interest of many customers, especially those who are adventurous, wealthy, or in need of healing.

3000 gold pieces anywhere else: This is the price that other sellers charge for frog tea grog in other locations, such as other countries. This is the highest price possible, as it includes the additional costs of importing, exporting, and smuggling the potion, as well as the risk of being caught by the authorities or competitors. This price also reflects the scarcity and novelty of the product in other markets, where frog tea grog is a rare and mysterious product that has no equivalent or competition.
