The Blade of Gaius

by Kitsumaru

Created by King Gaius of Cynidicea in a failed attempt at immortality. Long sealed away due to the risks involved in wielding the near-artifact.

Can only be drawn by it's owner (the first person to draw it, or their 'successor' (see below)) When drawn the owner MUST attack the creature they were looking at until it dies. The Blade acts as a +5 sword of sharpness until the target dies, at which point it acts as a regular sword. The sword must be resheathed and drawn again before it will again act as magical. The owner of the blade may not die except by the hand of their 'successor'
The first owner gets 100 charges. After having slain 100 foes the sword will fall into another's hands who will draw it and kill the previous owner. The new owner gets 99 charges. (And so on, diminishing for each new owner.)
Owners of the blade still age normally and may have horrible things happen to them while still not dying. The sword can not be permanently stolen of lost. Coincidence will bring it back. (It functions like the One Ring in this regard.)
