On healing ...

by Anarion_Elendili

The way we do it in our campaign:

1. Healing Skill
A successful Healing skill roll heals 1d3 per fight (of the wounds that have not had Healing skill used yet, obviously). A failed Healing roll means that person cannot try again for those wounds, but another Healer can try. A successful attempt means that everything has been done that can be done. A critical (a roll of 1 for us) heals double the roll. A fumble (a roll of 20 for us) causes 1d3 damage.

2. Good Night's Sleep
This restores 1 hp is the character is in the negative hp (our house-rule, you can go down to -CON value in hp, before you are dead-dead, as long as you are stabilized by 1 round of first aid or a healing spell before you bleed out at 1 hp / round). However, if the character is in the positive HP (or 0), this restores (level + CON bonus) worth of hp.

3. Bedrest
If the character spends the whole day in bedrest, this restores as much as the night's sleep, so it can double the natural healing rate.

4. Magic
Healing prayers heal Xd6+X, where X is the spell level.
