What if - Continuing the IM Module series?

by Håvard

We only got three modules in the IM series:

The Immortal Storm (IM1)
The Wrath of Olympus (IM2)
The Best of Intentions (IM3)

While these were all very different from eachother showcasing many different types of adventures you can run for Immortal Level PCs, but it would have been interesting to see more. We had 12 B modules, 13 X modules, 9 CM modules (not counting the 4 DA modules) and 5 M modules along with various other series.

What sort of adventures might we have seen? Here are some ideas:

IM4 Keep on the Outer Planes
I would love to see an Immortal level adventure similar to Keep on the Borderlands, detailing a planar stronghold that the PCs can help defend and use as a starting point for further explorations of Outer Planes.

IM5 The Plane of Dread
IM1 and IM3 already feature quite a bit of planar exploration and that is something that many Immortals engage in. I would like to see a module based around pure exploration, similar to X2 or many of the other adventures in the X series. Although the adventure could feature many planes, I do think that basing an adventure around exploring a single plane in more detail could be quite interesting, allowing the players to map out the world, learn about the races, monsters, dangers and treasures that might be found there.

IM6 The Fate of Alphatia
Not sure what I would do about this one, but involving Old Alphatia somehow, perhaps continuing the storyline of Alphaks from the M series?

IM7 Back to Blackmoor
Exploring the truth behind the Radience and perhaps travelling back in time to Blackmoor. I could see this ending up as a quest to protect the timeline from tinkering by other Immortals.

IM8 The Nine Realms
A Norse flavored adventure with a journey across the nine realms.

IM9 The Streets of Pandius
Intrigue and mystery adventures are hard to pull off, but I think an adventure exploring the City of Pandius could be a lot of fun. Perhaps pulling ideas from B6 as an example of how to run city based adventures could work?

IM10 War of the Planes
Every module series should have its war scenario like X10. This would be something akin to the Bloodwars with the PCs building alliances and taking the role of generals of vast armies of planar creatures.

IM11 The Outer Beings
The Immortals are sent to examine an artifact which could have been left behind by the Outer Beings.

by Robin

I think with minor work the following already existing modsules could be added to the series
The Apocalypse Stone

A Paladin in Hell

Hellbound - The Blood War

Dead Gods

The Awakening

I had used this one with mortal and Immortal PC's without too much difficvulty,
Dungeons & Dragons Meets Diablo
The Awakening
However, the game was after all mostly hack& slash and tedious, ...the longer it lasted the less roleplay was possible

You would need
Guide to Hell

and maybe this odd module for lower levels demonic spawn----The Guns and such other future or too D&D abberant could be removed/replaced easily, or...use this module as a phase just before the destruction of Blackmoor
Demonic Tome

by Cab Davidson

A high level IM adventure, something like IM12: Against the Draeden, detailing a major incursion by draeden into the prime in which the PC's (perhaps even as heirarchs) have to turn the tide against them.

IM13: Revenge of Arik An Eye of Arik sent to the prime was not successfully dealt with and Arik will soon escape his prison plane. Can the PC's infiltrate him there and discover the true motivation of Arik, and in so doing keep him prisoner forever?

IM14: The Galactic Federation Mystara faces a new threat, the forces of the Galactic Federation, come to investigate a distress call from an ancient artefact, their technology threatens the whole world. Can the PC's find out why the Nucleus of the Spheres is sending this distress call and stop the Federation before they cause too much damage?

IM15: Hallucigenia An immortal lost to time and space has returned, a tiniest speck of Hallucigenias power has come back to the modern world after countless millennia. But Hallucigenia cannot exist, he has become Hierarch twice before and the multiverse itself cannot accept his presence. Can the party solve the mystery of Hallucigenia before reality collapses in upon itself?

IM16: THE EGG OF COOT HATCHES
Image from Havards Blackmoor Blog: THE EGG OF COOT

The Immortals must search for a way to seal the creature back into an egg or all of Mystara will be overrun with techno undead. If they fail, even Immortals could be turned by the now unchained Coot

IM17 - Death of a Star

The home plane of your immortal in under siege, on the Prime Plane your followers disappear rapidly, sometimes mysteriously. Why does this happen, what sinister plot is behind your impeding doom. Rise, call upon mortal followers and immortal allies, and defend your existence before your inner light, that once you thought immortal, is snuffed from existence.
