Map of Athenos

by Geoff Gander

As Robin is actively mapping southern Darokin and has added Tafton's Corners, I am creating a thread where I can dump info, maps, and whatever else comes to mind from my works and my campaign that might be useful. A lot of what appears here will be transcribed from campaign notes and similar sources, and so it will not be as refined as material I usually share - be warned.

First off, my own draft expanded map of Athenos. Like Robin, I expanded the city westwards and northwards, but the main differences seem to be:

1. My adding a market square due west of the port itself (convenient for all those goods being off-loaded); and

2. An open space known as "The Pavillion" - this was once a Doulakki-era forum that is now a park where people stroll about, street musicians perform, and plays and other theatrical productions are staged. The shops fronting this part of Athenos tend to be far more upscale.

The large, vaguely rounded building standing by itself at the north end of The Pavillion is Linton House - a baroque, three-storey mini-palace loosely inspired by surviving Doulakki-era buildings (i.e., marble, massive columns in front, lots of athletic statues, etc.) where civic government is housed. Lots of municipal civil servants and DDC wander around this part of town.

At the very top is "Silver Row", which used to be a street where a lot of silversmiths plied their trade, but is now copper-class housing - townhomes with shops on the main floor that were subdivided 50-60 years ago into separate apartments on each floor.
