Ideas about the future timeline of Mystara

by Joseph Setorius

1000 A.C. My campaign, which began in 990 A.C.--as we'd been playing awhile before the Gazetteer line came out--lines up with the events in the gazetteers.
1000-10002 A.C. War of the Crown in Norwold. Follows the suggested two year timeline in CM1.
12/28/1000-1/1/1001 A.C. The Bells of Fate Holiday in Glantri has some unusual happenings this year.
This same night, troops from the Master's Legions enter The Master's Fist.
1002-1004 A.C. The Great Hunt in Alfheim commences. This suggested adventure from Gaz 5(?)--forgetting the Alfheim number, and it's the only one with it not being listed on the cover--and its ensuing aftermath comprises two years. At it's conclusion, Alfheim minor clans have established strongholds in the Northeast Territory of Darokin. More specifically, along the foothills of the Dwarfgate Mountains.
1004 A.C. By this year, the Master's Legions have subjugated to driven all Urdu Tribes off of the main caravan track from the Great Pass to Gola Keep. Over the next two years they will secure their conquest of Sindh.
1006 A.C. Hule's Legions attack Akesoli in late Nuwmont. This is the beginning of what is in my campaign is known as the "Known World War" or simply the incursion.
1006-1016 A.C. In Karameikos, the war between the Black Eagle and his humanoid allies consumes the Duchy for the next decade. When it is over, the halflings have captured the Baron--just like in the Almanacs timeline--and the humanoid tribes have been driven from the forest and fields of Karameikos into the Cruth and Blackpeak Mountains. This creates a more civilized--and boring from an adventurers perspective--Karameikos.
After the war has subsided, Karameikos sends troops to aid Darokin.
1006-1032 A.C. The Knights of Vanya & Thyatis battle Alphatia. Thyatis is still stinging from the loss of the War of the Crown. At the wars conclusion, Thyatis has control of Norwold south of Oceansend, and the Knights of Vanya are clearly in control of the Freeholds. They turn South to help their fair weather allies, the Glantrians, subdue the steppes.
1025-1026 A.C. Hule has "occupied" Darokin city as well as Akorros. Akesoli is in ruins. Resistance movements in the city hold their ground until the winter of 1026. This is when the joint Darokin, Karameikan, Rockhome, and Shires army overruns the Master's troops. Over the next six years they push them back to the borders of Sindh. Peshmir and Parts of Kadesh defeat the Masters Legions, and declare their independence. Raneshwar is in loose alliance with this new Northern nation.
1032 A.C. The known World War has ended--Alpahtia doesn't sink. this happens circa 1450 A.C. IMC; and the meteor sent by Alphaks doesn't destroy Southern Glantri. The meteor strikes in 1052 A.C. Afterall, revenge is a dish best served cold...

At the conclusion of the Known World War, this is how things stand:
1. Karameikos now has a battle hardened army ready to defend the realm. The humanoid tribes remain confined to the mountains, while many new baronies spring up as a result of them being granted for service in the wars. The Kingdom is more stable, but lycanthropy is on the rise. Stephan's daughter has assumed the throne, and Specularum is indeed renamed Mirros.
The "Caves of Chaos" are now home to a new Knighthood, and the area around the Cave of the Unknown and Castellan Keep becomes more secure. Haven is given County status, with Princess Argenta ruling.
2. Thyatis and Alphatia have returned to status quo ante bellum , yet the Dominions Wars, fought between the baronial rulers of Norwold and their Thyatan counterparts, have returned all but Helskir into the hands of Alphatia. To keeps Norwold out of further conflicts between the Empires; King Ericall, with Eriadna's blessing, declare's Norwold's independence. Many NPC & PCs that have established dominions receive higher ranking titles. King Ericall is styled as High King, which allows King Yarrvik--who is now old and ready to pass on his crown--to keep his title and align/become a part of Norwold. The highest rank of dominion rulers is that of Count.
Thyatis, having lost nearly all of the Hinterlands, turns its attention South, while making new strong alliances with the Knights of Vanya, and The Rand--the area West of the Icereach and other Western mountain ranges in Norwold.
Alphatia & the Knights are now pitted against one another for control of the Skies, and the far off colonies they have established.
3. Rockhome is more secure, having defeated many of the humanoid tribes that resided within their territory. They look to conquer and claim more of the Dwarfgates as their own. Darokin has been severely weakened by the war.
4. Alfheim grows Northeast and South. Claiming the Southern Dwarfgate foothills as their own; despite numerous human settlements and dominions occupying the same territory. The Shadowelf invasion in takeover of the Canolbarth doesn't happen IMC until after The Great War. The Alfheim clans depart for Wendar & Karameikos in the year 1300. After the forest is corrupted, and victory seems lost.
5. Minrothad & Irendi, though badly damaged from various navies throughout the war, slowly rebuild over the next decade. By 1042, having the most advanced Merchant fleets, sets it sights far and wide. The economy is booming in both nations. The Thyatian colony on the Ilse of Dread is ceded to the two nations, who have sign a trade pact. Think Hanseatic League, but just of the seas. In 1042 A.C. The first successful crossing of the Sea of Dread takes place. Landing in Kastelios on the Northern Coast of Davania. The Kastelians have developed the Sextant, which allows for better navigation on the open seas. Trade between the City-States and the Known World commences.
Note: Kastelian ships had been arriving in Southern Brun ports in around 1002 AC. But only sporadically. As nations become engulfed in the war, the foreign and neutral flags of the city-states sail free from harassment--except from Hule, who doesn't have a substantial navy to begin with.
6. The Steppes have been devastated. The forces that were in control of the Steppes before the war, and aligned with the Master, have been overthrown. With the Knights leaving to battle Alphatia, and Glantri retreating to its borders--who wants to conquer the unproductive Steppes anyway--the Khanates begin a slow process of growth. Both of their herds and livelihood, to their population numbers.
7. Glantri's success in the war has brought notable prestige to several members among the ruling princes. Most notably, Prince Jagger. The only sore spot for the nation is certain elements that had attempted to gain control of World Mountain, but were soundly defeated by Khanistar and her allies. Nonetheless, Glantri looks to advance it position in the Known World and beyond. First they make trade agreements with Wendar & Peshmir, then look to deal with the humanoids on their borders; as well as searching for a way to get the upper hand on those Alphatians bastards...
