Realm of Othrong: Neighboring Realms

by John Calvin

These are all in relation with the fledgling Realm of Othrong.

Kingdom of Wogar
The warriors of Wogar roam the plains from the wreckage of the Great Plateau to the peaks of rockhome. Wolves and their riders terrorize travelers, caravans, and even war parties from other nations. They have managed to subjugate nearly all of the Atraughin plains people, although the clans living in the western Cruth Mountains have been sending sporadic sorties to free their brethren in bondage. Several of the Wogar warbands are negotiating with Othron for passage to their enemies from the east. If they can launch a sneak attack their opposition will be decimated.

Malpheggi
Most Malpheggi are content to live in their swamps, trading with roving bands of humanoids for any goods they can manufacture themselves. Some older clans, those that cling to the dark beliefs of ancient Mogreth, actively work with the orcs of Othrong along the southern coast.

Nithia
50 years ago Nithia began opening relations with the Oenkmarians in the northeast, obsessed with knowledge from the Jewel of the Depths. They continue that relationship with Othrong, whose realm tends to be more welcoming to them than Oenkmar. Nithian sorcerers have been bolstering Othrongs forces in exchange for hin slaves and arcane knowledge of an elusive new source of magic that only the orc warlock knows about - Dark Fire.

Oenkmar
Although outwardly the two humanoid nations are on good terms, that facade could fail at any moment. Oenkmarians send a constant stream of spies and assassins to destabilize the fledgling nation, while Othrong tries to placate the behemoth by sending tributes of hin slaves. So far the ploy is working and the two nations confine their disputes to cloak and dagger skirmishes rather than all out war.

Rockhome
Dwarves run sorties into humanoid lands at every opportunity. Loktal Ironshield, one of Rockhome’s chief generals, has begun to build a following among his people in the west. The dwarves delight in conducting raids against roving humanoid bands, but Loktal is looking for more lasting victories.

Viper Clan
When Intua collapsed underneath the Great Plateau, a handful of survivors managed to eek a living near the Cruth Mountains. As humanoid nations rose up around them, they retreated further up the mountains. For decades they have been playing Oenkmarians off of the warriors of Wogar. With the arrival of Othrong, the Viper Clan sees new opportunities, and a potential new ally against their ancestral enemies.
