[13th Age] Placing Thunder Rift in the Dragon Empire

by Antonio Eleuteri

I have been running a Thunder Rift campaign with my kids for a few months now, and they would like to pick up (again) 13th Age, but they don't want to leave their characters and setting behind, so I thought that dropping it into the Dragon Empire might be a good idea. I had set TR in Greyhawk previously, but the PCs never left it, so it won't really break continuity. Has anyone done that? I'd be interested to hear your ideas/opinions on the geographic placement first, and then other aspects like Icons.

Here's a few things I came up with:

* In terms of geography, I was thinking around the Sun Falls or Hammer Falls, but I am not entirely sure. The latter seems a good choice, as the layout of the TR map is a good match for a place with rivers, a lake, and woods (its scale is not negligible compared to the Dragon Empire's scale).
* The Dark Pit might be an abandoned (?) Hell Hole. Or the access to a Living Dungeon.
* Icons
I came up with the following Icons ideas; all the factions in TR will be associated in some ways to the Icons of the Dragon Empire:
- Hearth Home: Dwarf King
- Kleine, Melinir, Torlynn: Emperor (but the Thieves Guild in Melinir is associated with the Prince of Shadows)
- Brichtwood: High Druid
- Gauntlin Forest Elves: Elf Queen
- Gloomfens undead: Lich King
- Wizardspire: Archmage
- Scorch: The Three
- Various humanoid tribes: Orc Lord
