Yama-Uba (Hags) as an antagonistic faction and Hexblood as a player option

by Marc Saindon

A quick idea on the Jungle Orcs (re-styled as Onis), is that part of their politics is a cycle of tribal chiefs and warlords who wield military power (occasionally unifying under one banner to raide Yasuko), and the other half would involve several covens of Hags (Yama-Uba) who serve as "spiritual advisors" to these chieftains. A Grand Coven exist, and when the Three are in agreement (which is rare), Yasuko is further threatened. Usually the Hags will use the Jungle Orcs as pawns in their endless schemes.

Hags can't reproduce directly, so at times will charge Oni vassals human infants as tribute or payment for services. Some they'll eat whole, others they'll spit out, a process which mutates the human into a Hexblood. You might call them "Shikome" for the time being (until I find a better name from Japanese mythology). While the Hexblood have some Hag-like features (small horns), they can often pass as humans. Some might cling to their human heritage, while other might aspire for the final rites to become full-fledged Hags, and toppling their creator in the process to take over the coven. Chaotic alignment is expected. Class-wise, they count as Fey so can't be Cleric or Paladins; they'll usually have so magical predispositions such as Warlock or Sorcerer, although some can be Druids or Rangers (focusing on the darker and more destructive aspects of nature, or simply the wildness of the jungle).

they might even have stronger numbers in the "Faeries" region and perhaps go against Thyatians eventually...
