Gaz4 the Kingdom of Ierendi actually has a bunch of cool ideas, but they are somewhat obscured by a lot of more goofy elements and references to popular culture that tend to get in the way of the things that are more useful in a slightly more serious game.

I am changing the Magical Manor of Fletcher island to remove the more obvious references to popular culture, but keeping some concepts.

The Magical Manor of Fletcher Island

by Håvard

Location: Fletcher Island, Ierendi
A wizard named Master Terco Arco (Belcadiz Elf 9, AL: N) has constructed a manor on the northern coast of Fletcher Island opposite from the village of Vlaad which sits on the south coast. While Master Arco has reserved the tower and the upper floors to himself and his studies, the ground floor has been turned into an Inn with rooms that can be rented out to very wealthy guests for 100 GP/night. Master Arco uses the income from the Inn to finance his spell research. While extremely expensive, the Wizard also provides illusions and other magic to make the stay and the Inn highly memorable. The Inn is managed by a clan of Ierendi Gnomes that Master Arco rescued from some experiment gone wrong decades ago.

How the PCs can get involved
1- The rooms rented out to guests are actually adventure worlds of their own created by illusions. While not real, the dangers within can have real consequences and someone getting killed in such an illusory world may end up with permanent scars (-1 to Wis or other effects). At the same time, the rooms can hold real secrets that can be learned by those staying for an extended period.

2- Master Arco may at times hire adventurers to help guests with problems or track down guests who have caused trouble for the wizard.

Edit: Thanks to Khuzd for suggestions for the character's name.

What do you think of this as a more serious take on the Magical Manor? Do you have suggestions for improving this manor further?
