Locating the Desert of Desolation modules in Ylaruam

by Robin

Ok I inserted I3 Pharaoh, I4 Oasis of the White Palm, and I5 Lost tomb of Martek into the Ylaruam East map. There are differences and similarities between this and the original adventure maps to make them fit, yet all is included. Distances covered and sizes are similar, locations details are the same, yet orientation/location of these are different. These adventures can still be played as they are, yet now in Ylaruam with some map changes and minor other changes.(see below)

The added illustrations are from said modules.
I stayed also within the Mystara canon+additional non-conflicting Fanon while mapping this

General alterations
Each Hex =2 miles now each hex is 1 mile, vision is max 4 hexes
The adventure suggest the PC's are arrested (for some obscure Ylari Law or act(they most likely did not commit)and forced to find the raiders who pillaged settlements (the Ylari don't dare to do) to get their freedom back.
Thune Dervishes are now Thune Nomads (not Ylari Dervishes although they have at least three real Dervishes. They are Radical followers of Al-Khalim. They have the Tracking Skill(not ability). in all other respect they are as given in the adventure.
Mentions of Dust or Ash are replaced by Sand, or sanddust.
The Writ of Authority does grants permission to do adventurous work in the Desert of Ylaruam
(ano Desert of Desolation mention should be replaced with Desert of Emirates of Ylaruam
Any mentions of Anu are replaced by Al-Kalim

TSR9052 I3 AD&D1 Pharaoh
A Start Adventure=Nuayriyah(Deraan)
B The Gates of Sule (twin pillars east of ruins of Akil)
C Sinkholes (explanation of these can lie in burried caves from the flood that Created the Ylari Bassin long ago, and sand burried small openings, which can be reopened by vibrations-movement on the surface. Another explanation might be these are small deeply burried elemental gates TO the Plane of earth, similar gates FROM the Plane of Earth then will exist elsewhere --these can then best be underneath some sanddunes, as their expel deposits sand)
D Hills (alter description into sanddunes. no caves here. instead use suitable tenting location)
E Fork in the trail (Broken Obelisk)
F End of the Trail
G Upper half of a statue thrusts up from the sand. Rename sunken City of Pazar=sunken Mogrethian Town of Ithkesp)
H Remains of Camel-fry (Dervishes camp)
I Pool of Tefnut (Oasis) This is on the other side of the seasonal River and Main North-South Trail. The locals know of its magical dissapearance and appearance and keep away from it.
J Lands of Bakar (Owned by Amun-Re Pharaoh of Bakar)
K Ancient Temple+ruined city Bakar)
L Plundered Tomb--Pyramid of Amun-Re

Its dates grow to full adult dade palm growth within one week if planted in wet ground (treu)
Thune Cultists Prologue; Replace mentions of Symbayans with Ylari, and Anu with Al-Khalim. Thune cultists are from the Emirate of Nithia who still scretly adhere to the olde Nithian gods. They plot to overthrow the ideology of Al-Khalim. The mentioned Sheik is a sheik of Emirate of Ylaruam as per Gaz2. This Sheik dissallows Slavery.

L4 Ruins Ancient Village El-Tod
(L=as these locations are altered, the Map of Martek is incorrect. I will alter this later)
M Village of the Phoenix(original name Merunak) + Statue of Set (replace mentions of City with Village) . Origin of current name is the sighted presence of a Phoenix in the ruins between 971AC and 999AC
